Wow. I haven't been on the site in a few days and it seems like piles of stuff has happened for everyone! Sending quick labour vibes for those who want it and 'stay put' vibes for those who need more time to prepare. :)
So cool to see how many babies have been born already!
I've been on maternity leave for 2 days now, I cleaned the house to an insane degree, got my preregistration at the hospital signed and picked out my pediatrician today. She's awesome, trained at Yale Medical school but has a homeopathy degree and a degree in nutrition as well. She'll even do care for the parents if they request it, which is awesome because I have two metabolic disorders and haven't found a Dr. here I like yet. My plan for tomorrow is hanging out with friends who are home during the day, and getting a mani-pedi. My SIL/doula arrives on the 7th and I have two dinner plans with folks in from out of country for the weekend, so I'm hoping my little guy is a timing freak like me and shows up on the 12th.
My little sister keeps singing at me that I'm going to go this week because of my insano cleaning yesterday, which is a little annoying. I know she's had 4 kids, but I scheduled my cleaning freak out, so I don't think it's an indicator.
My mom, who is normally super awesome, decided that instead of flying down (which she claimed was too expensive) she is going to drive down to SF from Vancouver Island. This is actually going to be more expensive with all the hotel stays and gas. That alone wasn't an issue - but then she said she's bringing her boyfriends 12 year old with her. She was supposed to be staying at my place on the couch. I explained that this is my first baby and that I'm going to be half naked, learning to breast feed and becoming a parent (she's coming a week and a half after I'm due). I do not want a 12 year old boy in a sleeping bag in my living room. I offered to fly her down, but now she's set on driving and bringing this kid with her. So now I'm putting them up in a hotel. I'm more sad that her visit isn't going to be about hanging out with me and the baby, like she said. Instead of full time Mom help, I'll get 2 - 3 hours a day along with dealing with a 12 year old who needs to be entertained. I know she wants to be a tourist and this is her way of ensuring that, but I'm still bummed out. Why wouldn't she just go on vacation somewhere else then? Oh well, trying to not get too hung up on it. There are worse problems in the world. :)
Aside from that, everything is going super well. Even the low down hip stretching head butting of my cervix isn't so bad I can't deal with it. I'm 39 weeks on Thursday and optimistic that things are progressing nicely.
