Does one food allergy mean you're likely to have others?

My 2 year old was diagnosed yesterday with a severe peanut allergy. We tested for hayfever causers and for all types of nuts and that's the only thing that was positive. I'm just realizing in talking to friends that have small children with food allergies that many of them have a ton of different ones along with peanuts. Is this common? Should I get her tests for other food allergies too?

Unless you see an issue, don't test.  False +'s are common and taking things out of a diet for no reason is not good. They cast a wide net and false +'s are 50/50 that there is an actual allergy.  Also, having one is more common than many (per I Dr. I believe.  He said 1 MAYBE 2 but mulit, no)

Did your child have a reaction to peanuts?

I would my son had a reaction to peanut icecream at like 3 and at 4 we got him tested he is allergic to eggs, rice, corn, wheat, soy, milk, peanuts and almonds! better safe then sorry.

A test is only about 50% accurate for a +.  If you haven't seen a reaction, a food trial is the only way to know for sure.
