and I've been getting burnt out on the tastes. There is not any room in the budget for extra stuff, so any unique suggestions to swap something for something more interesting are highly appreciated.
It depends on how you cook with this stuff, but some swaps that I came up with off the top of my head -
oranges > pineapple, mango
spinach > kale, swiss chard
onions > get a different variety than you normally buy; they have different flavors, shallots
potatoes > get a different variety; if you always buy russets, try fingerlings or yellow wax
chicken > turkey or pork
fish > shrimp or crawfish, shellfish
crackers > pretzel chips
mac and cheese > buy plain macaroni and make your own sauce
rice > couscous
