How common is implantation bleeding?

I've heard all sorts of numbers everywhere, but they're all so inconsistent. So I'm starting this poll. Feel free to elaborate with a comment.

Yes. Starting 4DPO and lasted for six days.  Bright red, brown, and pink.  Not that much, but not that little either.  I really thought I was starting my period around the 4th day.

On my third pregnancy now (one miscarriage, one DS, one in utero) and never had any kind of noticeable implantation bleeding with any of them.

Thanks, but the question was for those who had bleeding whether or not it turned out they really were pregnant or if it turned out to be a different kind of bleeding.

With my first pregnancy,  I had just a pinprick of red blood on 12 DPO, then pink when I wiped for the next two days (3 total).  I also spotted again later in the pregnancy (around 19 DPO) for another three days.  With my subsequent pregnancies- nothing.

I had it from around 6 DPO to 12 DPO.  It was pink, brown, and red depending on the day.  I thought I was starting my period because it lasted so long. Definitely very light though.  I have also spotted on and off later (week 8 and 16. I'm 17 weeks now.) I'm not sure if there is a correlation between implantation bleeding and other spotting during pregnancy.

... A million? But it was wishful thinking! Every time my period started out light I thought I was maybe pregnant.

IMO if one has light bleeding and thinks she might be pregnant, she should either take a test or hang tight a couple of days.This poll format doesn't seem likely to yield information that is going to be useful from one individual to another... "I thought it was implantation bleeding" is pretty broad, and will vary by person, and then you have to exclude cases where the poster really was pregnant but then miscarried and never even realized it, and so on.

I had one day of light spotting at 10 dpo, and I was pregnant with my youngest.  But out of 8 pregnancies (3 children, and pg now with what seems to be a sticky bean) that's the only pg I had pre-bfp spotting.

I had implantation bleeding with all 3 pregnancies, 2 ended in the births of my 2 dds and one miscarriage.

I see your point. I guess I'm just trying to figure out if I'm crazy or if it really could be.

With my #2 I had a small amount of pink streaking around 4-5 DPO.. found out I was PG 2 weeks later.

What question are you trying to ask? How often a pregnancy is accompanied by implantation bleeding? How often implantation bleeding leads to miscarriage? As written, your poll just asks whether women who thought they had implantation bleeding actually did or had something else -- not at all sure what benefit that information would give you.

For the record, I bled at the start of two of my four pregnancies. One of them the bleeding was so severe and so prolonged that I wonder to this day if I wasn't miscarrying a twin at the same time (the timing is a little fuzzy); the other was clearly implantation bleeding. Both pregnancies resulted in healthy full term babies.

My question was how many women thought they had implantation bleeding, but it turned out that they weren't pregnant. As I already said in a previous post, it's really a useless question. Guess I just wanted something to obsess about.

I had implantation bleeding at 8 DPO, got a BFN at 9 DPO and then got my BFP at 11 DPO (I was still spotting).

For me the big tip off was bleeding at only 8 DPO.  I have a relatively short luteal phase but not that short!

(Interestingly enough, I pulled up my old 2009 calendar to look all this up and I can see that I got my + OPK on CD 14, we DTD that night and then not again that cycle.  That was on Oct. 23 and my DS was born 9 months later, to the day :))

I've been pregnant 10 times. I've had 3 live births, 6 (possibly 7) miscarriages and am currently 28w pregnant. While I didn't get implantation spotting every time I was pregnant, I never got implantation spotting when I wasn't pregnant. In other words, every time I had any mid-lp spotting, 9-11dpo, I got a + HPT within a day or two.
