Fingernails and teeth

I have a four month old LO and she is a HUGE nurser. I struggled with my first (six years ago) to keep up with her while breastfeeding (nutritionally) and this time around I can't help but feel it is even worse. My fingernails are ridged horizontally, cracking and peeling, and suddenly my teeth seem VERY thin...like the tips look off colour. And suddenly I have about five warts on my hands. I know, gross. (Like the wicked witches in disney movies...)

Does any one have any ideas? I am guessing it is nutritional, but I don't know what I'm doing wrong. My weight is remaining more or less steady (I've always been pretty underweight...my first pregnancy weight all came off in about two weeks- I had gained fifty plus pounds...and this time around I managed to more or less keep it from ducking below my pre pregnancy weight...)

I can't afford to go to my naturopathic doctor, which I really want to do.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks!!

Really? Nothing?

I am really not the most qualified person to answer this, but I couldn't stand letting it go unanswered. My first thought is silica (for hair, nails, connective tissue) and cell salts (for better nutrient absorption). I'm assuming you're taking supplements, or eating really well, or both?

I'd also suggest supporting your gut, since that's how you absorb nutrients.

But for a quick something you can do right now, I'd suggest horsetail tea for silica, or clay for silica and minerals, as well as some cell salts -- take a look at the thread around here for ideas about which ones.

HTH! Not much time right now...

Vit. D would probably help (it is implicated in teeth problems). Get good fats....eat an avocado a day, add coconut oil to your diet, take a high-DHA fish oil supplement.
