Canada day baby! I was scheduled for induction yesterday morning but I went into labour on my own at 2am! Arielle Catherine Anne arrived at 9:32 pm and weighs 7lbs 12oz! She was sunny side up and after pushing for 4 hours the OB came in and used the vacuum suction to deliver her, poor girl has a bruised head but she is doing great and I am one very relieved mama smile.gif

Congratulations! How amazing that you were able to go into labor on your own prior to your scheduled induction! Welcome Arielle - very pretty name!

How's everyone feeling?

I've had a major increase in crampiness since yesterday, but so far it's not turned into anything. It's just menstrual like achy and crampiness, but there doesn't seem to be any kind of pattern or wave-like sensation to accompany it. But it does give me hope that maybe my cervix is ripening or something. I mean, I am 41 weeks today. Something has to be happening, right?

Sounds like you're gearing up!!! Yay!   thumbsup.gif

My Braxton Hicks have turned more painful and seem to wrap around my lower back--and extra mucous this morning.  So we're close!  They can't stay in there forever!! :)

No they can't! I keep trying to remind myself of that. Last night was just so awful and uncomfortable. I got very little sleep. Sounds promising that your BH are starting to wrap around your back and that you're mucousy. Perhaps you'll be holding a little one today or tomorrow!

I'm 41 weeks today too. Baby was really quiet last week so I thought I would go sooner than later ( I'm like 80-90% effaced and 3-4cm), but then the baby started rocking and rolling in there and here I am a week later! Some nights I want to get up and walk around, the contractions are that uncomfortable, but they always putter out after a few hrs. I'm kind of thinking we might have a another UC because I won't really believe I'm in labor when I am! (That's what happened last time around.)

They won't stay in there forever... I know it in my head... but.... ;)

I'm still waiting.  Every day I have tons of cramping and contractions and think "oh good, must be happening today!" and then nothing happens.

I'm still here today with 0 signs of starting birthing anytime soon. I'm 41+1 - my next midwife appt. is Wednesday. How's everyone doing today? We're trying to figure out what to do with ourselves today. We didn't make any 4th of July plans because we thought we'd be busy with a baby. Haha - what were we thinking? So we'll get out later today and take DS to see some fireworks. As much as I want baby to come, now that we're here I'd kind of like baby to hold off until tomorrow at least. I'd hate to drag all those attending away from their families on a holiday. I have to work tomorrow - only one daycare kiddo so it won't be bad. But I was hoping I'd be starting maternity leave tomorrow! Hmmm...doesn't appear that I will be. Oh well! What's a few more days of work - I don't think this baby could possibly hold out too much longer!

I'm still here, too.  10 days past my due date now, and it looks like I'll be induced tomorrow unless by some miracle I go into labor today.  I'm pretty sad my body didn't do what it was supposed to do...at 11 days past my due date I'm ready for the induction because I spend most of the day at this point worrying if the baby is doing okay...but I'm sad it came to this.  My doctor said she would just break my water and give me up to 24 hours before she started pitocin or any other interventions, so I'm hoping once my water is broken in the morning my body will remember what the heck it's supposed to do.

I'm ready for her to be here safe and healthy in whatever form that requires, but I think a small part of me will always be sad that with three babies I never could go into labor on my own.  :(

I have little hope anything will happen today.  I have had two contractions since I woke up this morning...that's it.  In the last week I've had several 6-7 hour stretches of 10-15 minute apart contractions, but they just go away.  I haven't even had a good stretch of those in the last two days.  I have tried EVERYTHING except castor oil which I'm not considering.  Spinning babies techniques in case she's not quite in the right position, pelvic tilts, curb walking, walking in general, sex, all the right foods, RRL tea all day long...it's just not happening.

hug2.gif I'm sorry - you sound so frustrated. Well, one way or another you will be holding that little one soon. I hope your body kicks in and starts on its own and/or responds to the rupture of membranes by going into labor.

I had a huge increase in "menstrual" crampyness the night before I went into labour. Hope it's right around the corner for you ladies!

42w 5d 0 signs of labor. hope something starts up soon. u/s biophysical set for tomorrow at 1, hope to not have to attend that. *fingers crossed* vibes to everyone!!!

I hope you don't have to attend tomorrow Angel!

Last night I was so crampy and back-hurty and restless I thought baby was on the way for sure, but again, nope.  Today has been a very crampy day... it's hard because every day I hope for the baby to just come already and it's very hard to be accepting that it's just not up to me!  Even though I knew going past 40 weeks was totally possible I just didn't expect it since my first two were a few days early.  A good reminder for me, and good to experience this so I can be more there for other women when it happens to them!

What's with our end-of-June babies? They're all holding on in their warm safe havens and it seems like we're all experiencing the same things! I'm 41+1 today. Dh and MIL took the kids on an outing today so I could be alone. I started reading 'Gone with the Wind' yesterday evening and spent the whole day today reading - and analyzing my body for any signs of labor. lol I figure by the time I get through all 1,037 pages of the book baby should be out.

MW apt tomorrow... to sweep or not to sweep the membranes... that is the questions. I was 41+3 with DD and went into labor with out any prodding (besides dtd). Didn't need any prodding with Ds... I'm technically not for any interventions but I feel so impatient this time around.

I know!!! Where are the BABIES!!! Swimming-duck? Joanna in PA?  You guys still hanging in there?

This is how I've been. My back has been way more achy and I've been more crampy and so every night I think this could be it and I'm going to start pressure waves during the night. For some reason I visualize my birthing time beginning with pressure waves starting at 10 minutes or so apart during the night and then really kicking in the following morning. But every morning I wake up still preggo with no signs of birthing anytime soon.

We're in the same place - 41+1. That would be something if you get through "Gone with the Wind" in it's entirety before baby gets here!

My next mw appt is Wednesday and I'm debating the same thing. She offered to sweep my membranes last visit and I turned it down. I'm maybe considering for this visit. But in looking around online it seems that there's not convincing evidence that it actually makes a difference. I mean, my body has to start birthing soon, so in theory if I allow my mw to sweep my membranes and I then start birthing I really have no way of knowing if the sweeping the membranes worked or if my body was going to start birthing anyways. So I guess I'm hesitant to do it if it's not necessary. Plus I thought I heard/read that sweeping the membranes could make it more likely that the bag of waters ruptures prior to the start of pressure waves. And I remember reading that pressure waves are more intense once the water breaks. So I'm kind of partial to the bag of waters staying intact as long as possible during birthing.

Still here! We just got home from fireworks. The noise did not seem to scare the baby out...lol! It was nice to have a family outing for the 4th of July - we obviously wouldn't have been going out if I had just birthed a baby so it was nice that I got to take DS to see them. I was hoping that this would be the year that he gets into it, but he's still scared of them. He's very sensitive to noise, so anything loud freaks him out. He pretty much hid his eyes the entire time and kept saying he wanted to go home. greensad.gif But we still had a nice time. I did have some wonderful chocolate banana cake that I made today. Mmmm - it was a recipe that I found online and it turned out so wonderfully moist. It was lovely!

Crystal, they always were more intense for me once the water has broken. This time, when I said I specifically did not want my water ruptured manually when I met the OB during labor, she said that the reason it hurts more is that once it's ruptured, a different hormone is released. I cannot remember now exactly what she said...but when she said it...it made a lot of sense! I've had 3 labors without ruptured membranes and 2 with and the ruptured ones were more painful right away compared to the non-ruptured membranes.

I felt like I had NO real signs of impending labor and mine just started out of the blue. I kept thinking I would wake up in labor like every other time, so this little boy shocked me by starting labor in the evening and being born at 1 am compared to my other 5 that have been born between 9 am and 5 pm (my OB loved me! LOL). Looking back, my contractions were getting more menstrual like in the last week or so, but nothing hugely different. And, I went from not in labor to contractions 5 mins apart and 90 sec long that didn't hurt and weren't any worse than BH, but just that they were much closer which made me stop and take notice.

Good luck mamas!!! I hope to read a lot of birth announcements in the coming days.

I picture my birth starting about the same way. And I'm completely with you on the sweeping issue. I guess my biggest issue this time around is the dates. I didn't keep track of my periods prior to becoming pg and we have not had any u/s's. I just know I was done with my last period before a road race and counted backwards. A highly scientific method. :)

Our ds (almost 3) is sensitive to loud noises and didn't care at all for the neighborhood festivities. He's currently in our bed, he was just crying after every loud bang. I just want to cuddle him but my belly is to big to snuggle with him on my lap.

Better let dh get back to his netflix.

I do hope one of us (or all of us!) go tonight. :)
