I was looking at the 2011 thread and I thought it was very inspirational... but then I started thinking that I wasn't sure if I even owned 2011 things. On further thought, we probably do. For clarification, I'm not counting things like, individual sheets of paper, or toy blocks, or food items, or things like that. But I couldn't even begin to estimate how many things we DO have. Does anyone have a rough estimate or anything?
I'm going to actually count, I think (yep, I'm bored, and our apartment is small and we're paring down). I think I'll do one room a day. So for the moment here's my tally of the living room:
2 bookshelves
7 wall decorations
2 rugs
1 chair
1 cat condo
2 stools
1 throw pillow
2 plants
1 printer
2 vases
4 lanterns
1 stereo
1 drum
1 folding chair
1 modem
211 books, not counting library or kid books, yeek
1 power surge thing
1 electric kitty piano
2 felted dolls
2 file folder things
Grand total - 244
(without the books: 33)
Amazing how even just from looking around our room, which actually looks pretty empty when you walk into it (for lack of furniture I guess) I can already see a lot of things that I'm going to start paring down tomorrow in anticipation for our newest upcoming move in 3 weeks...
I'll do some more inventory-ing tomorrow. I'm not sure if it interests anyone but it's pretty eye opening for me, despite how minimalist we seem compared to what we've seen friends, family etc. have, we still have so much!
Anyone else can feel free to join in IF you feel like counting things. :)
