Birth control anyone?

Hi Mama’s congrats on your new babies, I was just wondering if any of you are on birth control? What method are you using and what are the pros and cons. My first period after giving birth was on 5th April, I had an IUD inserted on 8th March and its my first time ever to have an IUD inserted, let me tell you it wasn’t a very good experience, it hurt a lot but my OB said its usually like that for first timers! And my period after the IUD insertion was quite heavy, painful and long (up to7 days) again my OB said its normal and that its gonna adjust and feel better after a few months. I’m not looking forward to my next period which is around the corner! Oh and another thing, I’m not sure if this is because of the IUD but every time my bladder is full and right before I go pee (sorry if TMI) my bladder hurts as if I’m being pinched and I cant stand properly from the pain and that has never happened before and it only started after the IUD insertion, I cant help but wonder if that’s from the IUD????

My next OB appointment is in September. I can’t be on the pill due to Thyroid issues ( my OB doesn’t recommend it) and if IUD is not good for me, what else can I try? I really don’t want to end up pregnant any time soon and “Pulling out” is a risky one, hubby doesn’t like condoms.

Can any of you Mama’s relate to this?

I would really like an IUD (thought I have heard that insertion is painful and it increases your periods) but we can't afford one right this second so we are using condoms.  I don't know why everyone hates them so badly, but they are mostly what we've always used.  I'd like the IUD for convenience.

ive read about iud's containing copper have given some women reactions, but their complaints were more like feeling worn out and not like themselves rather than pain. the pain could be a uti perhaps? we are also just using condoms for now, my body has been through enough and when we are sure we are done having kids it's dh's turn to take a hit. whistling.gif
