Keratin hair treatment and TTC

My husband and I started to TTC for #2, two months ago.  I don't think it happened this month because I feel symptoms of AF coming.  I've had the Keratin treatment on my hair before and loved it.  I wanted to hold out before getting it again until after we have baby #2, but I don't know if I can hold out anymore, especially another year.  My hair is very thick, long, and curly and I hate blowing it out straight.  I don't really like the curly look on me (and can never seem to get it right anyway) and like it straight much better.

Anyway, my question is, would it be safe to get this done while TTC? I would never get it done while pregnant or breastfeeding, however.  I'm thinking since I know for sure we didn't TTC this month, if I get the Keratin before our next TTC session in May, I should be okay.  I would never get it done during the 2WW though.

Just wanted some thoughts on the matter.

Are you talking about "Brazilian Blowout"? I've been reading a lot of negative things about that recently so, personally, I would not get the treatment while ttc, pregnancy, or nursing.

No, not the BB, the Brazilian keratin treatment (BKT), where you can't wash your hair for 72 hours.  Honestly, after re-reading about it again (I got it done sometime last year), I'm not sure I want to get it done again anyway.  It made my hair look great and so easy to manage, but I just can't find a reliable source that lists the ingredients in it.  Some sites say it does not have harsh chemicals in it, and others say it has formaldehyde in it.

My hairdresser says it has formaldehyde in it but "only 2-4%" LOL

Hi my husband and I trying to conceive as well.  I just had the brazilian blowout done. I've had it done 3 times before.  It's the kind that they wash immediately.  I would go with that one and I would go to a salon that has PLENTY of ventilation because the fumes that come out during the process are awful whether you're TTC or not.  The place I go to gave me a mask but my scalp itches when I get it done so I guess it's not the safest.

My opinion is that, there simply isn't enough research done on this to risk it.  I did it but kept bugging me afterwards.  I don't think it's worth the stress.  If you do it, then make sure to have a mask and be where it's really ventilated.  If it's not good for us, I doubt it's good for a developing baby.
