Actually, that is all you have to do with an exclusively breastfed baby. If that grosses you out and you don't want to use a sprayer, you can use flushable diaper liners that you toss in the toilet with any solid waste on it. I'm not sure about formula fed babies. I'm sure you could get more info on that in the cloth diapering forum. When baby starts eating solids so that poop gets more solid, I do use a sprayer to get solid poop off before throwing the diaper in a dry pail.

It's really not that much work. If you are truly interested, you should look into it further.

I did use to rinse them with the breastfed poop. But it's really not that much work. I am also hugely in love with EC, so I thought I'd mention it if cloth diapering is something you're at all interested in. IMO, EC makes cloth diapering easier. All you have to do is give your baby the chance to use the potty when you think he/she needs to go. Doesn't work for everybody but it worked for us.

We EC too and love it!  ecbaby.gif  We rarely had poopy diapers, and that's only one benefit.  thumb.gif

Yeah - dh was looking into ec at one point too.  I don't know what we'll end up doing - as it is I have a 5 (will be 6 yo) who I am hsing, a 2 (will be 3 yo) who wants to start "doing school work" too and then add a newborn into the mix and I am not sure what we'll do.  I guess we have big ideas but int he end we end up doing the easiest thing! lol  One thing I do plan to do for sure this time is baby wear - I wanted to last time but for some reason I just never got around to it.  We do co-sleep and we do extended breast feeding.  So we'll see what else we end up doing this time around, since this will be our last I should do everything I want to try just so I can say I tried it.

On another topic - how much has everyone gained?  I am 16 w 5 days and I have gained 20lbs already!  I gained 60 lbs last time.  I don't worry too much about it, but I can't believe how much I have gained already!

I'm 37 weeks, so I'm almost done, but I've gained at least 40 lbs. I didn't have a scale before 17 weeks so it might be like 50. yikes.gif
post #146 of 291

I've gained 30 lbs at 26 weeks.  Dancing a jig b/c it makes me soooo happy! eyesroll.gif

Re: diapers - I only swish if it's a huge mess, and overall I'm not big on rinsing diapers -- especially if it's exclusive bf or formula only poo.  With formula its a little stinkier but it's still loose and washes right out.  Just have to do the extra rinse, which I'd do anyway.

I'm trying to get my bff to use cloth but for some reason (I honestly don't know why) she is sooo hesitant!  I send her links and all sorts of deals and still, she wont take the leap.  Maddening b/c it's so fun and I just really want her to get into it, lol.

I feel pretty good overall, ladies.  I'm starting to get really excited about this baby!!  I was watching a youtube video, it showed a micropreemie born at 27 weeks.  Sad as it was (even though the baby girl lived, it was very positive, still sad to see such a teeny baby) it was crazy to realize that BABY was what's inside me right now, kicking and punching.  Just unreal!!  We are having BABIES, girls!! joy.gif

I just realized that I don't have to unstuff my pocket diapers before I wash them, they all come undone in the wash anyway! yay for saving a step!

AFU - w/ BF poo, it just goes in the wash. since then, if it falls or shakes off, it goes in the toilet, other wise, it washes out. I don't rinse at all. I love CD'ing. I would full time with this next one, but since we have some 'sposies, it would seem wasteful not to use some of them, some of the time. I am looking forward to Monday's scan partly to know how much diaper shopping I get to do! If baby is pink, then I will also look at getting some pink onesize diapers to supplement my boyish collection, as well as getting the newborn/smalls which I don't have at all, since we started CD'ing DS @ 7 months. If baby is a boy, all I really need are the nb/smalls.

Well, if you go by my scale at home I have gained between 5-7 lbs since my BFP. According to the OB, who only counts what you've gained since seeing her (at 8 weeks) I have gained nothing. I am plus-sized anyway, so the minimal weight gain is just fine. I hope it means I will weigh less than I started once baby is born! (but as I am only 20 weeks, I could end up gaining a bit this last half) I only gained 25 lbs with DS, and don't really want to gain any more than that.

I find EC interesting, but I don't think it is for us. I would have to get DH fully on board, and I think he thinks it might be too much work. as it is, I am waiting a bit to go really strong on potty-training until I am off long enough to make it my sole focus. I figure if I make a good start, than DH will at least be able to keep up the momentum.

I'm 29 weeks today and have gained about 25 lbs. I'm happy with that. I was wrong before when I said I had only gained 35 lbs. with ds2 and ds3. I actually gained about 45 lbs. with each of them. That was a bit much for me and since I started out 10 lbs. heavier this time I'd like to stick as close to 35 lbs. total as possible.

Carrie ~ I know what you mean. I've been thinking about that a lot lately. There's a real, actual separate person inside me. I feel these little punches and pokes way down low in my pelvis and know those are his hands. I wish I could feel them the way I can feel his feet up near my rib cage.

Everyone at Tae Kwon Do was very interested with my cloth diapers when I took them to try on that baby. They had never seen anything like that. All they knew about were flats and PFs. I don't think it got anyone to really consider using them, though. All of them are done having babies anyway, I think. It will be fun to see their reactions when I have the baby in wool covers.

Katrina ~ I have a Muttaqin OS diaper that is too girly that I'm planning on selling. It's brand new, never even been washed. I didn't realize when I bought it that it had pink and lavender and flowers on it. The print is something like Woodland animals. It's very cute if you like that sort of thing. It goes from 8-35 lbs. and is made of bamboo. I paid $26 for it, if you're ever interested. I can't list it on Diaperswappers yet because I don't have 30 posts on there. I don't really want to get involved in any boards or threads over there. I've got enough over here.

I don't blame you! - thankfully I posted enough over there a while ago, and have both bought and sold from there. I don't go there for the boards, only the FSOT; it is far more active than MDC.

If I find out this one is pink, I would totally be interested. I will let you know on Monday!

I am starting to feel more distinct punches/kicks vs. just general movement. I am wondering if maybe my placenta is anterior and that is why sometimes the movement feels muffled; or if it just early for distinct stuff. As young as DS is, you would think I would remember that stuff more clearly! I am looking forward to the baby's increased size and movement later in pregnancy. Gabe was actually rarely painful in his movements, didn't kick me in the ribs, etc. hoping this baby will be as kind!

akind1: What time is your appt today? We're waiting for an update!

update: Baby is Pink!  we are pretty sure - saw lines and no turtle.

Also I was right about my placenta being anterior, and she is breech right now, but not concerned since she has plenty of time to turn. weighing in at about 9 oz, and if I was reading the u/s right as they were going through, she is measuring more to my dates than the 1st u/s (but that is ok, they keep the first dates). Want me to have a repeat because the way she was positioned couldn't see her brain and heart very well.

oh, and I still haven't gained any weight by their scale! Not too bad.

hope everyone had a great weekend!

I finally got around to ordering a Barnes & Noble gift card with my credit card points so I could get another copy of Hypnobirthing and then yesterday I got my book back. lol.gif It has a CD in the back. I didn't realize that. I don't know when I'll find any quiet time to practice. That's impossible in my life right now.

I'm also feeling really good physically, in spite of the back pain and such. I cooked dinner twice over the weekend and even cooked breakfast this morning, fried eggs and toast. I never do that because I'm so tired. And, ds3 kept me up half the night vomiting. Do you suppose it's from just taking the iron? I've been taking 2 tsps. twice a day for about 5 days now.

It probably is from the iron. When I feel so tired that I could just sit and cry, that's usually my indicator that I need to eat a steak or hamburger! The next day I feel awesome! I'm not a fan of red meat but it seems to be what my body needs right now. I've also done a better job of taking my prenatal vitamin over the past couple of weeks and that has helped my energy level a ton. My only problem now is I have energy, there's stuff I want to get done but I get winded so easily! And bending over is starting to become a big problem! My belly seems to have expanded a ton over the past few days. Hopefully that means that all the water I've been drinking has helped get more blood to Ava and she's grown a bunch! We'll find out next Friday how she's doing.

Katrina ~ You must have posted while I had the thread open and didn't refresh so I missed it by the time I posted before. Congratulations on a little girl! joy.gif

If that's what it is, Annie, it's miraculous. I can't believe how much better I feel. I still can't eat much red meat. I made a roast the other night and didn't eat any of it. I usually love roasts but the look of it as I was cutting it made m sick.

I know what you mean about having the energy but not the ability to do things. My neighbor's teenage DD helped me carry groceries in the house yesterday because she saw me moving so slowly. I move very slowly. I sweep and mop the floors and I'm pretty much done for the day because it kills my back.

I'm curious about something. I think it would be fun to compare our BD timing with our babies' genders. If you all wouldn't mind, post your BD timing within the 6 day fertile window and frequency (I guess if you post all BD within that window, that will show frequency, too) and if you are having a boy or girl. I just want to see in our very small group if there are any trends.

So far, we have 10 in our group with 3 known boys and 4 known girls.

I had BD on O, O-2, O-3 and O-5 and I'm having a boy. So, I guess timing and frequency worked for us in making a boy.

Katrina: Congrats!!!  joy.gif

Gosh, ya'll have me thinking about trying floradix for the energy.  winky.gif  I might be due for a cbc at my appointment tomorrow, but if not, I think I'll ask about checking it anyway.

I missed a crucial temp so my O could be either on CD 18 or 19, w/ BD on O, O-3, and O-6 or BD on O-1 and O-4 (and O-7)...and a girl!

We BD on O-1. I'll tell you in a few days or weeks which way it goes!

I didn't get Floradix. I got my iron from the health food store here. I checked with M to make sure everything in it was safe. It's about the same price without having to pay shipping.

Well, that doesn't go with the rules, does it?

Ok, now I've confused myself. I can't remember all the rules. Within 3 days of O is supposed to be boy. I know that. But is more frequent BD supposed to be girl?

That was the only time within the 6 day window? Then that should be boy. It'll be fun to find out.

Oh, what'd you get?  I think I have a chelated iron hanging around, I wonder if that's still good?  Hmm...

I don't know about frequency and s*x.  I looked up s*x selection in both TAoNFP and TCOYF and they just talked about timing.  As far from O as possible and still conceive for a girl, and close to O for a boy.  I still think DH's job has something to do w/our girls, but I'm not sure exactly what it is about the job.  There does seem to be a correlation, though, between how long it's been since the father was deployed and whether baby is a girl or boy (there are fewer boys after deployments in his field.)
