questions for moms who pump at work

Thread Starter

1) Can anyone recommend a cooler bag that will stay cool on my desk and hold a maximum # of bottles.  I lost the medela one that came with my pump.  I'm not sold on any one type of bottle.  At present I have 6 oz Evenflo Glass.  I'm really not sure how much milk I'll pump at work b.c I'm new to this. A lot of them say they hold 3 6 oz. bottles.  I assume I won't likely pump more than 18 oz in a day.

2) Your favorite breast pads to cover up leakage.  I teach high school and should be able to pump 3 hours after my last nursing session.  However, if ever there was an unforgiving environment for leaky boobs...

Thanks,

Meg

I can't help you out on the cooler issue because I use the Medela one that came with my pump.

I love the Johnson & Johnson nursing pads though. They are actually cheaper than the Lansinoh ones, and I think thicker & more absorbent. (Plus they look smoother under my clothes)

FYI: I pump 14 oz. for the entire time I'm gone (7:30-5) and I pump 3x during the day, but everyone is different. Good luck working & pumping, good job mama!

for a cooler I had the playtex fridge to go, though it may hold less than you need, it does best with narrow bottles.

I also like the Johnson & Johnson pads

I have a bag I got from work, so again no help there. I'm very happy with the lansinoh pads but never tried thee others. I did try 3 types of non disposable ones before giving up on those. Wool & silk were too much care, cotton didn't work well enough for my OS/OALD.

You can buy an extra bag if you like here: http://awaybabyessentials.com/item_105/Medela-Breastmilk-Transport-Bag.htm I thought they had discontinued them but I guess not. You can also get a contoured cooling element. Together, these can keep milk cold all day. I've tested it many times while traveling. I prefer to pump into plastic bottles because they are lighter and then store in the glass but the glass bottles will fit into the contoured ice pack.

However, I'd make it easier on yourself and buy a little mini fridge for your classroom. You'll have less worries, can leave your parts assembled, store your lunch, etc.

Also, the landisoh disposable pads work really well.
