Causes for elatic failure?

We use sized fuzzi bunz, both fairly old ones (old style) I bought used, almost new ones I used from failed newbies (my favorite kind,...haha), and real new ones.

My old ones (made in the USA) are still pretty much fine, some elastic failure over time. When the elastic fails, it just loses pull over time. But a BUNCH of my new ones (made in China) have totally shot elastic. Like failure over night.

What is the cause? Different materials/country of origin, overall decline in quality, washing? We did have a period of time when we used white vinegar but it was fairly short and it seems like it should have affected them all. Something I am missing? I bought them prior to use and the warranty is past.

I would guess poorer craftsmanship and quality of product.  I also have a stash of the old version and the elastic has failed in about maybe a third of them after 200-300+ washes.  My friend gave me a bunch of her new version FB's b/c the elastic was shot after only about a year of use.  I've also had PUL separation issues with new version FB's.  Tsk tsk Fuzzi Bunz!

But, either way, I just replace the elastic and keep on using them because I love them otherwise!

My 2010 FuzziBunz are fine sofar. I read somewhere that stretching the elastic when it is hot (from dryer) is very bad. I linedry my covers and only machinedry the inserts just in case.
