charting temp q, back to back, 2 different temps, how do you record it?

Just curiosity, when taking two temps back to back in the morning and they are different, how would I record them?  Do I use just the first one or get a average of the two?

I just started charting and I wanted to see how accurate the thermometer (BD brand) is so I took two temps at every morning, some were the same but some weren't.

Thank you.

There were several times (usually when I was hoping I was pg) that I questioned my temp and I would take it again back to back.  The second temp was always slightly higher (much to my happiness) b/c I was more awake, but this doesn't make it more accurate.  To keep things consistent, I would use just the first temp and be sure you're taking that first temp the same way each day.  So if you wake up, wait a few minutes and then temp, always do that.  If you wake up and temp right away, always do that.  Just be consistent.  Also, some women are so sensitive that their temps will fluctuate based on how warm the room is, how many sheets they have covering them, etc.  So if you take your first temp snuggled under the covers and your second with the covers off, you might find a difference as well.  In general, consistency is all you need.  I wouldn't worry about verifying and averaging or anything like that.
