Celiac blood test for breastfed 4mo?

I just found out last week I have celiac and my 4mo baby has not been gaining weight well so we are getting him tested for celiac - we know the test is not reliable at this age but he's getting other blood work done anyhow so we figured we may as well include this test too and if we get a positive we know that and if we get a negative we know it means nothing! My question is, should i be eating gluten for the test to have a chance of being accurate? I've been off it about a week (not really noticing any difference - just less bloated). I know if *I* was getting the test for myself I'd need to be eating it, but what about for him? The whole reasoning behind celiac possibly being an issue for him is that he is getting gluten via my breast milk. And if I need to be eating it, would eating some tonight and tomorrow morning before the test be enough (we were planning on getting test done tomorrow morning but it could wait a day or two)?

On one hand I figure the chance of him getting a positive even if I was eating heaps of gluten is low, so best not to put my body through that; on other hand, I've only been off it a week, and if we can get a positive for him now and know for sure then we don't need to put HIM through having gluten later. Of course, hopefully he doesn't have celiac at all and never will!!

Oh so confused and unsure...

Thanks!

My ped said he would not test my child until 18 months as she would carry the antibodies from mom for that long. I kept her gluten free for the first 2 years of her life with no problems. In order to do the gluten challenge one needs to be eating a number of grams of gluten a day for 6 weeks before the test. We are so gluten free here I am having a hard time getting gluten into her funnily enough. It's also pretty pointless I guess if you've been gluten free for years as it's not a very reliable test. You have to be pretty severely damage and not healing. Since we have the blood order I think I will just due two weeks of gluten on and I know the test will be neg and go ahead with the DNA. Enterolabs does it for $150 but another company has a more detailed test (forget the name off the bat) but they charge $350. Entero can miss some sub genes I read.

I will probably keep a gluten free lifestyle and if she has gluten I'm not going to freak out about it. It's hard for me to do though since it causes me such pain and it seems poisonous to me and had been since I was very little. She had pizza yesterday and it was on the floor and she was wiping her hands on me and I mean I can't get contaminated so not sure how far this can go in my household anyway. I yell at dh for eating burgers in my car and then touching the steering wheel! I'm certainly not going to be ok with crumbs all over my house or me. She didn't eat the pizza btw just one slice of peperoni which I don't think gives her enough gluten for the day in a challenge test. Her grandma gave it to her and she's just a messy girl. I have a refried beans lipstick print on my shirt right now. I'm the human napkin to her so yeah... it's kinda hard..
