Hi ,
Â
Does anyone have any recommendations for a pediatrician in chicago that takes medicaid and is open minded about a selective/ delayed vax plan?Â
Â
We've tried with Dr. Mariela Cano but they are not taking new patients.
Â
Thanks in advance!

It's not the easiest route and it's certainly not ideal, but if you're unable to find a flexible doctor that accepts medicaid, it's also within your rights just to refuse any and all vaccinations.
Â
I live in the far North burbs of Chicago, and there's only a small handful of doctors that accept new medicaid patients...trying to find one that's also vax flexible is close to impossible unfortunately. The doctor I'm stuck with is very mainstream and has heavily pushed vaxs on us...was downright hostile about it at times....but I politely declined and signed a waiver and there was nothing further this doctor could do about it.
Â
My point being is that if you're unable to find a medicaid doctor that's accepting, it's very much within your rights to refuse vaccinations whoever your doctor is.

Actually, this is what we did with last pediatrician. Signed a waiver and everything, but when we refused the MMR vaccine they dropped us from the practice told us that they would no longer see ds there unless we complied to the standard vaccine schedule. Since then we've been calling around and just about every office I've spoken to said they will not see non vaxxing patients. We saw one who didn't even mention vaccines, but he was just a terrible doctor.

Also Kltroy thanks for recommendation, I'll check him out.

I will mention that IME, Dr. Potter is quite flexible about vax schedules and was certainly in no hurry for us to vax our kids. But he generally encourages vaccinating eventually. What I really appreciate about him is that he will present the logic behind his opinion and then ultimately leave it up to the parent/patient to make the final decision. I've never really fundamentally disagreed with him on any issue (ie we both strongly feel oppositely about something) so I'm not sure how that gets handled. Anyway, good luck!
