So my son is 15 months old and until about a week ago, an excellent eater! He was eating lots of pureed foods and some solids (whatever I eat, plus toddler snacks). Last weekend he started throwing tantrums and refusing to eat. He will only eat one meal and even then, it's a struggle. He'll eat a few snacks and drink some milk throughout the day, but that's it. I'm really starting to worry about him getting the nutrition he needs and not being hungry. I want to try to offer him finger foods (hoping he'll eat more) but what can I offer him? What are toddler appropriate foods that are still super healthy? Preferably foods he can pick up and eat on his own. Has anyone else's little one gone through a similar phase? Thanks for your help ladies!Â

Is he still nursing? My dd was only eating one solids meal a day at your lo's age, but she was still nursing a lot. And toddlers are notoriously picky eaters so consider breastmilk as a multivitamin to fill in the nutrional gaps. Otherwise try some pasta with butter. Does he like spaghetti sauce? Puree some veggies and mix them in with the sauce (or any sauce for that matter). Do the same with cream cheese and spread it on bread or use as a dip. As for snacks, keep offering fruits and veggies, maybe add cheese cubes or string cheese, whole grain crackers, and maybe rotate what you offer so that your snack items always seem new.
If you're worried then go see the ped, but otherwise a healthy toddler will eat when s/he is hungry!

Ok DS was a tad different, he didn't touch solids til 11 months and then only ate very little til 2 years. He was breastfed though during all that time and got most of his calories from me. Toddlers will eat when hungry. They sometimes eat tons and then, at least my DS, would have days of only eating a yobaby jar. When we visited my nephew (same age) he always scarfed down foods by the ton while DS ate maybe a slice of bread. DS always was in the 99th percentile for height and weight until 18 months, eversince he's leaned down to still very tall but 50th percentile in weight and holding on to that. I'd say as long as your son isn't loosing weight, you're good. If you're worried about vitamin intake, get some infant vitamins, such as Nordic Naturals Berries, toddlers tend to love them and they have only good ingredients (high quality, no crappy colorings or such).
