Can a toddler wear the same diaper two nights in a row?

Okay, I know the title sounds gross, but DD (27 mos.) stays dry through the night two-thirds of the time.  She's in regular panties during the day, and now AIOs at night.  Do I need to wash her diaper if she doesn't pee in it at all, or can she wear it for a second night?  When she wore sposies I just threw them away, no big deal because they were like $0.27 ea., but washing cloth that's not dirty...well, doesn't make a lot of sense to me.  Should I change the cover each night and reuse the inserts?

What do you all do?  (Really?)

Well, my kids don't wear underwear underneath their PJs, and they wear them for 2 nights in a row, so I suppose it's the same thing. I would do it.

I wouldn't put my kids in the same underpants 2 nights in a row without washing.  Something that is touching their genitals and bottoms should be changed every night IMO.

I would definitely reuse it, cover and all. I don't really see why not.

I reuse.

Maybe use a stay dry type liner you wash if it bothers you, but I don't see the need.

Think of it as 2 nights is about 18 hrs, for us. I know I don't have issues wearing a pair of panties for 18 hrs.

If it's only used overnight and not the whole day like undies, I would reuse.  nod.gif

We had no problem reusing a sposie a couple of times just for nights.  It was at this point she would go a couple nights in one diaper and then request a diaper to poop in every couple of days, so we were really proud to only go through 3 diapers a week. Then we just realized DD was night trained 100%, so we just put her in underwear at night.  You might try just taking the plunge. Or, you could put her underwear on under her diaper, and then just wash the underwear at the end of the day.

I've reused diapers.  I don't always change my underwear when I go to bed (when I actually wear underwear day and night as I often go commando - and rewear pants too!) so I don't see wearing a diaper two nights in a row any different from wearing underwear for a day and a night.  Anyway, it isn't like a baby or toddler has as many excretions as matured genitals let out at any given time.  If there is no pee or poop, I don't see the big deal.

I've reused diapers before. We use mostly AIOs during the day and pockets at night. If I take her AIO off to put on an overnight diaper and it's dry? I throw it in with the clean diapers and use it the next day.

Thanks, that makes me feel better!

We reuse clean diapers or pull ups.  My kids are older and only use them at night, but if I threw them away when they were dry it would feel super wasteful.  I would also reuse cloth.  They put them on last thing before sleep and take them off before going pee upon waking so I don't feel like they are dirty.

Cloth I would wash but I have the hardest time throwing away disposables. It kills me.

Still, I do. Even though the kids usually bathe ever night. I just have this ingrained sense that these are the dirty bits, especially prior to being potty learned.

I reuse cloth diapers that don't get soiled.

In the past I re used pull ups for more than 2 nights....didn't think too much about it until I read your post!  He wasn't peeing at all so no dribble or whatever and he goes to bed clean. I threw them when they bunched up too much. They are expensive and it would've been so wasteful.
