Need some SNACK ideas! We eat nut butter, but often in sandwiches each day, along with a cheese snack but I'd really like to offer more diverse snacks. Fruit makes up a big part of our snacks but leaves kids quickly hungry for protein or filler-carbs. Grape tomatoes and carrots etc. work but need some new, quick/easy ideas for three kids under 5. Thanks!!

Enough with the goldfish!
My daughter loves boiled eggs as a snack and they tend to stay with her longer than fruit. Don't get me wrong, she loves fruit but fruit is not very filling. I try to get her to eat it with cheese or yogurt but she's still hungry soon after. A cold boiled egg seems to hold her for a while.
Offer hummus to dip the carrots or tomatoes into, for extra protein and fiber. Â More filling too. Â Add some sliced up pita bread or pretzels for more carbs if you desire.Â
Â
Edamame.Â
Â
Smoothies are quick and filling too, especially if you make them w/yogurt and/or milk. Â I blend up yogurt, milk, frozen fruit, a banana and ground flax. Â

- oven baked pita chips (I drizzle w/ olive oil and bake at 375 for a few minutes) and served with hummus
- sliced apple of pears spread with almond butter
- banana peanut butter pinwheels. Spread peanut butter on pita half. Place a whole banana at the edge and roll lengthwise and slice into rounds.

Cheddar bunnnies.
Â
Fruit with yogurt.
Â
Cheese and crackers.
Â
Veggies and hummus, pita and hummus.
Â
Fruit and cheese.
Â
Nut butters on toast, bread or crackers.
Â
Garbanzo beans.
Â
Dried fruit, but may not be filling.
Â
If tortilla chips are okay, nachos. Whatever shredded cheese they like with salsa on it. Can top with sour cream.
Â
If you have boiled eggs ready, small egg salad sandwiches.
Â
Small cheese sandwiches or nut butter sandwiches. ( I guess by small I mean a half-sandwich.)
Â
Whole wheat bread torn into bits in a bowl, throw in some frozen fruit, then top with cream or milk. It makes like a slushy, frozen tasty concoction. I like it.
