Hey St. Louis Mamas!  Anyone have contact information for Dr. Vlastos?  I have google searched and can't find a current phone number.  Thanks ever so much in advance!

He's on staff at St mary's, SLUcare physicians will have his number.

However, since he is a perinatologist, you have to be referred to him by a regular ob.  We have a mom who wants to vba3c, but she is getting in w/ one of the other docs first.  If he says he'll do it, then she's fine, but if he says no, then he'll refer her to Dr Vlastos.

The receptionists (usually) do not let you get an appointment w/ him, until you've gone through this process.  I've sent a lot of moms to him, but they have all had to do this process.  Pm me if you do not get through this way and I can help.

Thanks.  This is what I ran into when I called SLU care and my current OB sent my medical history over but the receptionist said if they evaluate my medical history and don't consider me high risk then he won't see me.  They said that a twin vbac isn't high risk which is nice to hear but every other doctor writes me off as such.  I had a c section with my first but a VBAC for my second so my last delivery was a vaginal birth, however, once a VBAC always considered a VBAC.

Well, that's good they don't consider you high risk!!  I think that's unusual for st louis!!

Have you considered switching to a regular ob at St mary's, so if you do need dr vlastos, you can switch very easily??  Are there any other perinatologists you want?   Have you thought what you want to do w/ breech twins?  Or if baby b is breech?

I went to Dr Blaskiewicz at slucare and had two wonderful vbac's.   He did not consider me high risk (I'm old and a vbac) and I did not have continuous monitoring cefm.  The nurses were awesome and talked me out of epidurals--even though I had very painful posterior labors.  He said I could eat during labor, I wore my street clothes, no vaginal exams prior to labor and in labor, my ve were limited.  He even used a fetoscope (mine) for appointments.  He was very low key about the whole thing.  For my second vbac, I was at 9 cm for 4 hours before I got to pushing.  He didn't try to give me  pit or pressure me.

I'm not sure if Dr B does breech, but I'm sure he would feel comfortable referring you to a perinatologist that does.  I've heard Dr Myles does breech, as well as Dr Vlastos...there are probably more too, bc they have a lot of perinatologists.

I had a friend that used dr B for her 7th vbac and she had gestational diabetes.  She went to a perinatologist for a few visits, until her sugars were all good (even met w/ Vlastos) and then she went back to Dr B and she said it flowed very easily.

I've heard Dr Gosser tell moms he will do a breech vbac....you've already had one vbac, so you're ahead of the game.

And congrats on twins!!  How exciting.
