Pediatrician in Sharon, MA?

Hi All,

This seems to always be a popular topic on the forums, but I am yet another mother looking for a pediatrician who 1) understands breastfed babies and 2) understands how to treat (or not treat) intact penises.

My son will be 12 months soon and we are moving even sooner. We are leaving his doctor in Wakefield, MA (Enmei Wang, who I love and highly recommend) and moving to Sharon. Too far to keep his doctor.

We had some difficulty in the past with the other doctor in the current practice and her insistence that we pull his foreskin back to separate and clean it, She even did so herself before we could gather our wits to stop her. (She even went so far to say that if we didn't start doing so "we'll have to circumcise"!) After an angry letter from us, we don't have any more trouble but I am determined that our new doctor will understand the proper care of an intact penis or at least be open to our input that it be treated properly (and according to AAP guidelines!).

Our little guy is also gaining weight slowly according to the CDC's (formula-fed baby based) chart but is just fine on the breast fed chart. It would be great to find a doctor who does not insist we force feed him solids because of his weight.

Does anyone have a doctor in or near Sharon who you love? I've had one recommended to me in North Attleboro but he is not taking new patients (except newborns). I am so sad to be leaving a pediatrician I love and nervous about finding a new one. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, mothers.

Hi there, I am replying to your old post. Perhpas it will still get to you...I am from Europe (Czech Republic) and I am shocked how many health professionals are still obsessed with circumscission and not supporting breastfeeding in tis area ...anyhow. Good for you and your son! You are making   the best decisions for him. Hope you found a good doctor for him. I am new to Sharon myslef, and looking for a health care provider myslef. Please let me know who did you find out. Thank you Hana

Hi Hanka,

It's crazy, isn't it? I'm still surprised when we have to defend either breastfeeding or our decision to not circumcise.

We are moving soon and I have had a few recommendations. We are going to go to Dr. Guillette at Sturdy Pediatric Associates on the recommendation of someone who used to work with him. I haven't visited him so I can't vouch for him yet. I opened another thread and someone recommended: Dr. Walcott, Dr. Levine or Dr. Robertson in Brockton

I don't know how they are or whether they are taking new patients (our biggest challenge in moving). If I find out through experience I will let you know. Please do the same for me. How old are your little one(s)? You must be encountering the same problem.

Thanks,

Beth
