Has anyone used a doggie daycare/playhouse type place for boarding?

We're going out of town in a few weeks and my usual sitter might not be able to watch Sam so I'm looking for alternatives.  We did the usual kennel boarding once and I think he was really lonely.  He is so social and prefers to be with other people or dogs.  I have two daycare places by me where the dogs get to play together.  At one they have individual sleeping areas, at the other it is all communal.  Both places have someone onsite 24 hours a day.

I plan to go look at them but wondering if anyone has any experience?

My dog stays at a daycare/boarding type place when we go on a trip where she can't come. The dogs play from 8am to 12pm, break for an hour or so for lunch/nap in their kennel, and then play more until 5pm. Then they all go to their kennels for bedtime. The playtime is in a couple of large outdoor enclosure areas (some covered for bad weather) with lots of toys and space to run.

We like taking our dog there. She is never really happy to be apart from us, but I am glad knowing she is safe and getting lots of exercise. She sure comes home tired!

Thanks!

I called a few and the one closest will feed a raw diet while he's there.  So Sam has an appointment this afternoon for an interview and temperment screening.  And I can look around and ask questions.  It is by far the closest so I hope I like it.
