My daughter, who just turned four is my little pessimist. She is SO negative, her first word was "NO". She also seems very angry to me. I've been told by lots of people that it's "just a stage" but it's been going on since she was about 18 months old. She was a high needs baby and she still doesn't sleep well and I think that it may be a contributing factor.
As an example, at bedtime we talk about our day. I have recently started specifically asking about what she liked about her day, or a good thing that happened because if I ask the open-ended "how was your day" her answer is invariably "bad". Today I asked what her favorite thing was about her day and she said "nothing, it was bad". Arg!! It was her birthday party today and she played happily with her friends for hours!

Any advice? is this normal? She's like this all day long. She flies off the handle at every little thing, raging at me or her dad or other kids, even kids at the playground. I just don't know what to do about it. We've tried talking to her about talking to people in nice voices, it doesn't help.

I feel like a failure as a mother some days. She can't just naturally be like this right? Do I yell too much? Did she learn it from me?Â
Help?
