i am sick-sore throat for 11 days. what do you think??? I am concerned.

I came down with a medium bad cold 11 days ago. Not too big deal at first. BUT i cannot shake the sore throat. The first few days it was raw all day then I  just had it at night (sore!) then I got some chinese herbs, it got better then it got worse. Today I have a sore throat all day too. My throat is red with maybe red splotches. I feel the cold is almost gone just a bit in my lungs now. I am worried I have something serious. I no longer have health insurance but I do have another appointment with chinese dr on wednesday.

any one have any ideas??

Hopefully this has resolved by now, but that sounds like when I got strep a few years back. (I'd never had strep before, and had long assumed I never would.)

I went to a walk-in drugstore clinic--they can do a rapid strep test for about $50. Antibiotics helped almost immediately.
