How to share pregnancy with kids

I'm pregnant with #3 and am wondering how and when you told your kids. My boys are 6 and 4. I'm just about 10wks and we've only told close family, not even my grandmothers. Still, we're worried about the boys hearing from other people. On the other hand I don't want to tell them too early in case something happens (this just happened with friends who told their kids at 12wks and then found out the next day that the baby had stopped developing) or when it's too abstract. Suggestions on timing, books, experiences, etc?

Mine were 6 and 4 when I was pregnant with #3 also. We waited until about 4&1/2 months to tell them.

It was so exciting.
