Dairy & egg allergy...

Thread Starter

I am looking for any reverse recipes, or plain recipes of simple & easy things that I could put together as a meal for my son. I am driving myself crazy, compulsively looking at ingredients on everything he may eat... All input is helpful!

If anyone knows of any potential brands of toddler foods that are allergy sensitive that would also be helpful.

If anyone has any advice, input or has a child with the same allergies, feel free to chat with me... Thanks!

My child was just diagnosed this week with a ton of food allergies- eggs, wheat corn, soy and peanuts plus a few others. The food allergy network has recipes for various allergy issues. I' also overwhelmed wondering what we are going to eat.

How old is your son? I know we snack on a lot of fruit, so that's all still ok, and we like stir fry. I'm trying to convince dd that rice cakes are cool topped with something (just realized we can't do peanut butter anymore).

Food allergies suck!

On this site you have to pay for a membership to view all the recipes.  You can click your child's allergies and they will give you recipes.  There also are some free recipes to try.

For an egg and dairy allergy though I would simply get a good vegan cookbook.  I'm personally notorious for taking perfectly good vegan recipes and adding meat.  (Sorry vegans)   Prepared items marked Parve are dairy free (but not necessarily egg free) so that is a good thing to check for.  We aren't egg free but are so heavy in eggs that I try to bake without them.  We are gluten, dairy, soy, and almond free leaning towards grain and starch free.

A simple milk substitution is coconut milk or almond milk.   Sub it 1 for 1.   For heavy creme I use cashews blended with enough water to make it creamy.  You can make some awesome dairy free creamy stuff with cashew creme. Soups, desserts, you name it.   Even mac and cheese if you add brewers yeast.

Enjoy Life is a brand to look for.  It is free of all 8 main allergens and toddlers love it.

we are also dairy and egg free. i second the idea of adding meat to vegan recipes. vegan recipes are much easier to find on food.com and sites like that than allergy friendly recipes. also i cook a lot of stir fry, indian food, pasta with marinara and veggies, salads....i love vegan mac and cheese, and simply googling will bring up lots of good vegan cheese sauce recipes.

I have lots of recipes (most are gluten, dairy, soy, corn free, some are also egg-free since my son can't have eggs) on my blog in my signature. Also if you go to the Health & Healing and go under Allergies and go under Resources, there is a large recipe thread, and I think also some other links to food blogs of other allergy mamas. We've been doing it for 3 years now (dairy/soy free for 10 years) and it's now second nature, but the beginning is always the hardest!
