like-minded part-time baby nurse in NYC?

Hi,

I'm due with my first at the beginning of October, and since we don't have family etc who can be helpful and my partner works very long hours, I wanted to hire a baby nurse from 6am to 11am every day, so I can get a few hours of uninterrupted sleep and take care of other things as needed (I don't need cleaning/cooking help, just someone to hold and care for baby).

I'd really like a baby nurse who I can trust, who will understand and appreciate our (otherwise) co-sleeping. baby wearing, cloth diapering, attachment parenting desires.

I realize this is kind of a tall order... Does anybody have any recommendations for someone who might fit the bill - or how I might find someone who does?

Unfortunately I don't know anyone personally who does this as I'm on Long Island, but many doulas (especially post partum doulas) act as "baby nurses" and would by nature of their profession share many of your values.

You can try the metropolitan doula group for contact information.

Where in the city are you located?  I live in lower Westchester, just a short train ride from the city.  I'm a SAHM to my 11 month old boy and we babysit together!  I don't think that's a tall order at all... in fact it's exactly the type of family style I'm looking to care for!!!  My son is a home-birthed, breastfed, co-sleeping, worn-on-his-Mama, APed, loving and loved, happy little boy =)   My only concern is actually getting into the city that early.  Any chance you'd be open to having someone come a little later?  If so, I'd love to come with my son and meet you one day!!!  E-mail me at [e-mail] if you're interested!!!  Thanks!!!
