Anyone had a natural birth at LICH with Joanne Middleton/Janette O'Sullivan?

Hi, not sure if this is where to post, but I am due in December and meeting with Joanne Middleton/Janette O'Sullivan, (http://themidwivesofbrooklyn.com/ ) this week. They are both midwives who deliver at LICH. I was leaning towards a HB, but my insurance only covers 60% of a HB while Joanne/Janette are in-network and covered 100%.

Can anyone share their experiences with me? I'd prefer not to be in a hospital but I've read (on other sites) that under Joanne/Janette's care, they were able to have a close-to-HB (read: natural, supported, non-intervention type) birthing experience. It would be great to save a few thousand dollars if possible, especially if other women have had great experiences with them.

Thanks much!

I worked with Joanne and Janette in 2009 when I was due with my first child. To make a long story short, I wound up going into labor three and a half weeks before my due date and arrived at LICH four hours after my contractions started already at 9cm.

The LICH triage midwife kept me company until Joanne showed up and spent the next three hours keeping things moving. She did everything I wanted and made the experience as quick and painless as these things can be. And, most importantly, she knows when to ask for help. The birth was so quick that I had a bit of bleeding she couldn't stop easily and she and the triage midwife made sure a doctor was called right away.

Good luck!

Joy
