what would you do with this box spring?

Just before the baby was born, we replaced the twin bed in dd's room with a twin/full bunk bed. We bought a new mattress for the bottom, but are just using the twin mattress from the old bed on the top. That leaves us with a box spring sitting in our front living area. The question is what to do with it? It's in good condition, but I can't put it in the garage because of spiders, can't donate it because we're in an area where they're not taking beds because of bedbug risks. Any ideas for storing it, or should I just get rid of it? It seems a shame to get rid of a perfectly good box spring...

Unless you forsee needing a new bed in the family in the near future, I'd Freecycle or Craigslist it. Someone could really be in need of a box spring and could use it now. If you have real reason to believe you might need it in the near future (like in the next year, you're adding an exchange student to the house, or an aunt is moving in, or something concrete like that) then I'd let someone use it and think about how you're making their life better and easier.
