new kefir grains

Did I handle my new kefir grains right? Kefir grains arrived in the mail. Apparently, they had escaped the bounds of their plastic sack, so the envelope was a little soggy-I'm hoping this means they're very strong and prolific! I immediately scooped them out (they were kinda cottage cheese-y and smelled cow-y-sounds like milk kefir grains, right? coz I think I have water kefir ones coming too). It was a little less than a half pint, and I put them in a pint glass and topped w/ raw milk from the fridge, and now they're sitting on my counter covered.

Now just wait for 24 hours or so?

you got it.

Although, I've always used 2 Tbsp of grains to 2 cups of milk....not that it's an exact science or anything.
