Conception -some interesting facts

Just watched a show on tv and thought you ladies might be interested in a few things they said about concieving.

EWCM is the mucous which has been in the entrance of the cervix for the time you are not fertile, at the right time ready for ovulation, it starts to move out the way, allowing the entrance to be 'unblocked'. It then acts as a 'rope ladder' for the sperm to swim up.

Only 1% of sperm make it from the vagina up into the cervix.

Once in the cervix, our immune system is triggered as Sperm are foreign to us, so our white blood cells then attack and absorb them!

By the time any survivors have reached the safety of the fallopian tubes, from the 250 million sperm, there's now as few as 20 left!

Once the egg has been fertilized, within a few hours it begins dividing into cells. 70% of eggs fail to do this correctly and so can't develop at all! This happens within the first 6 days, before you even know you're pregnant.

Humans die more often in childbirth, than any animals do.

Wow, that's some enlightening information -- sure puts things in perspective!  Seriously, I think this will really help me to be less impatient (I'm in the 2ww now).   Do you have the name of the program?  I'd love to watch the whole thing.

thanks for posting this thumb.gif

Perspective for sure! How the odds are so against conception really, we're all miracles. I'll private message you the link if I can find the program online as it was on tv in the UK not US. I think it will make me have more patience when starting to TTC again for sure.
