Tips for Hiding Varicose Veins in Pregnancy?

Thread Starter

During my 2nd pregnancy, I developed a varicose vein on the inside of my right knee which became extremely painful toward the end of the pregnancy, but disappeared not long after birth.  I am pregnant again, and the vein is back with a vengeance!  I'm only 18 wks and already it's very painful.  I wore support stockings during my last pregnancy, but that was through the winter.  Now that it's getting hot, I want to wear skirts and shorts, but can't wear stockings with them.  Also, the vein is so ugly that I feel self-concious wearing shorts.  Does anyone have any tips on hiding varicose veins in the summer months?

Also, has anyone had a procedure done to correct varicose veins, and if so, did the vein come back during subsequent pregnancies anyway?

TIA!

Long skirts and maxi dresses...both very comfy and hide the veins.

I also take between 3,000 and 5,000mg of vitamin c a day and that along with my chiropractor have helped my varicose veins be almost pain free this pregnancy(I also took some other supplements like a prenatal, vitamin d(10,000iu's a day), b complex). I have horrid veins down my entire right leg and they were extremely painful with my past two pregnancies and this pregnancy, while they still look ugly, they haven't been painful except for a few times and never for longer than a day.

And I have yet to do any long term procedures has I have heard and read it's best to just wait until your done with all pregnancies.

I'd second the most docs say to wait until all pgs are over before 'fixing" the veins. I've got a mess of them on one leg, they get worse every single pg. This is my 4th and what used to be only one 2 pgs, truly is a cluster of them now. Sigh. This is my LAST baby so before next summer, yep, they will have been taken care of.
