OK help me out here car seat and tall 19 m/o RF

DD's head is already 1in under the back of the car seat (does that makes sense, top IDK what to call it lol) So that is fine RF but she is going to grow...

I went to babies r us today and the "car seat specialist" was clueless and arguing with me that DD should be FF! Needless to say

I left and am NOT going back there!

He said all the car seats are the same height and I won't be able to get a taller one. DD is only 22lbs but she is 33 inches tall and she has a long trunk. We are currently using a Evenflo Titan which RF to 40lbs right? I don't get it though b/c like I said she's got about an inch left of head room.

So what car seat would work for her?

I don't have an answer for you, but I'm curious what others have to say. I think we may end up having the same problem when DS gets older.

Maybe take some measurements, torso and/or sitting height. I know some carseat boards have charts with those measurement.

Don't look at the weight limits. Those are more for a heavy set child. Most average kids and especially torso tall kids never get closes to the weight limits.

Also check your manual as I think most seats are outgrown rf when the head is at the 1 inch mark.

There definitely his a huge variance in shell height between seats.  If your LO only has 1" of shell above their head, you need another seat asap before there is any more torso growth.

The seats with the tallest shells are the Complete Air (rf to 40lbs), Radian (rf to 40 or 45lbs depending on model) and the True Fit (rf to 40lbs), I believe in that order.  My 6yo still barely fits in the Complete Air ffing, so it should last to booster age.

The titan is one of the smaller seats on the market.  It RF to 35 lbs, and FF to 50, although those weight limits are *incredibly* unrealistic.  Most kids outgrow the seat RFing by about 18 months old and about 20-25 pounds, and FFing by about 3 years old and 30-40 pounds.

Now, you will never get a seat where the height and weight limits magically correlate...because each kid is going to have a different height and weight combination....BUT..we know that some seats are likely to be outgrown by weight before height..or height before weight...etc.

The titan is one that is outgrown by height significantly prior to the weight limit.  It is, as i said, *incredibly unrealistic* to expect a child to get anywhere near the weight limits before exceeding the height limits.

If i am reading it right, your child is not even 2 yet, so yes, a new seat is the best option if you can possibly afford it :)

Well we can't afford it but we are going to have to lol So the cheaper one is the air one right? That one is the tallest too?

Yes, the Complete Air 65 would be the cheapest option up there.  Target carries it, but if you do some serious Googling you can find a good deal on it online.
