Genova stool test

This was suggested to me in a previous thread of mine and I'm wondering if it is a test ordered by our family dr or if it's through a naturopath or somewhere else.  I think it might give us some answers so I'm interested in knowing more about it.

Both use it. I would guess most mainstream doc would not be familiar with it unless they keep up with current research (most do not). I believe you can contact Genova to get a list of HCPs in your area who work with them.  I think you may be able to order it yourself through directlabs.com, also.

I was hoping we could do it through our doctor so that it would fall under our medical coverage.  

We see the GI specialist at the end of the month.  I will ask him.

I recently took that test and I'm waiting for the results. My naturopath ordered the kit and it was sent to me from Genova. My chiro could have ordered it as well, though she was going to charge me more for the test (more in her pocket).

At first I tried to get my regular doc under my insurance to order the test, well a stool test with parisitology (not necessarily from Genova), but when I called they were asking me all SORTS of questions about if I was in any pain and blah blah. I had not seen her for any of my digestive problems before and decided that telling the whole story about my history with the natropath was not worth it for me. I had been treated for parasites before, which the doc was not aware of. When I asked the natropath to order the test she said ok, with only a short explanation from me.

I not sure how it would work with your insurance, but mine is very picky and you must use the provider list and I would have probably needed to be seen by my doc who would  have to diagnose me with something that would show a need for a stool test. Not just that I want to see if I have any parasites or how my gut health is.
