Add me to the group that has actually thrown up.  I lost my breakfast yesterday, and I was so sick and pathetic feeling that I woke DH up early to take care of DS.  Then I sat there and cried for a half hour because I felt bad about waking DH up.  Ugh.  I'm a mess.

Thankfully, my midwife did call in the prescription.  I really didn't want to resort to meds, but I don't have the energy right now to try different homeopathic/natural remedies that may or may not work.  Maybe after a few days of relief, I can try other tricks, but right now I can't even think about it.  The script she called in is for a formulated medicine that is the same as Bendectin (which was taken off the market in the US, but is still available in Canada).  It contains dicyclomine, doxylamine, and vitamin B6.  It's like a miracle pill.  The "recommended" dosage is one every 8 hours, but I took one yesterday afternoon, and it lasted through this morning.  I think if I take them first thing when I get up, one a day should be fine.  I'll also still be on the lookout for other remedies, but OMG it's great not to feel sick.

Lol redbirdlady.. so cute!

This morning was the first time in a week I managed to brush my teeth without throwing up!!  That's incredibly exciting for me.  Maybe today will be a good day.

LOL!  Glad to hear that your 2nd pg the m/s was better than the first.  I'm hoping since mine started earlier it will end earlier.

Who'd have thunk that fried chicken would have stayed down!?  Now I'm craving more hoping to keep the more severe nausea at bay.

I was feeling so good I made scrambled eggs and toast.  Very.Bad.Idea.

I wonder if this is what my midwife was talking about.  She said that the meds she would prescribe are actually illegal.  Do you know why it was taken of the market in the US?  Glad to hear you are feeling better!

Hi, ladies. Add me to the morning sickness gals! I had some nausea with my first two, but it seems worse this time. I've been actually throwing up at least a few times per day. I have no appetite. I've been trying to cram healthy foods into my body but it's hard. Hope you all start to feel better soon.

I found amazing ginger soda today, its got nothing but fresh ginger, cane sugar and water. I think I may live on it. The label says Fresh Ginger Ginger Ale by Bruce Cost.

I feel less queasy after sipping on it. Just thought I'd share.

It was taken off the market due to false claims regarding birth defects (which I have to admit, freaked me out a bit!).  According to the pamphlet I received from the pharmacy, it's now the most widely-studied morning sickness remedy, and is widely used in the UK and Canada.  No links to birth defects have been found, and the "evidence" shown in one of the big cases against Merell Dow was found to be falsified.

I mis-read the label, though, when I listed it earlier.  Doxylamine has been substituted for the dycyclomine, which makes it a slightly different formulation than Bendectin.  Here's a little blurb on it from Motherisk: http://www.motherisk.org/women/forum_question.jsp?forums_id=1149  Honestly, I trust the drug evaluators in Canada and UK more than the FDA, and I also trust my midwife.  That said, the dosage is 3 pills per day, and I'm only taking 1.

I guess you can simulate it by taking Unisom and B6, if you want to try it out.  I don't know what dosage a Unisom is, but my pills are 10 mg of each.

I know this sounds really weird but I think my prenatals were causing my ms!  I missed a couple of days last week and I felt SOOO much better those days.  Then yesterday I forgot them and felt great, not much ms and not as fatigued, so I didn't take them today either.  I picked up some Rainbow Lights today and I am hoping that I they will be better then the Trader Joe's ones I was taking. Weird huh?

I've heard its very common, actually. I think my rainbowlights may be helping with my m/s. Possibly the b6?

I've been taking only B vitamins today, just to see if they helped.  They didn't seem to last pregnancy...  But today, I also skipped my prenatals, and I haven't felt nauseous at all.  And it's so nice not to be sleepy/muddled from the meds.  Maybe I can get by on just the B6 for a while and take my prenatals at night or something.

I had hypermesis with all three of my last pregnancies. I couldn't eat or drink anything and nothing helped at all.  I had to actually have IVs every few days to keep myself hydrated.  However, with this baby I've not been as sick, knock on wood.  I am frequently nauseous but haven't thrown up yet. I'm 7w1d and I'm hoping this is as bad as it's going to get.  This time around constant eating seems to help... I couldn't believe everything I ate yesterday. I've been eating a LOT of yogurt and fruit as well as granola.  Big meals are a no go for me.

Hi ladies, mine isn't too bad yet at 5 weeks...but i did wake up at 3 am last night sooo nauseous form a deep sleep! I immediately went and ate a banana and some cheese and drank some water with a bit of lemon juice, peed etc. I know it sounds counterintuitive but it worked. With dd1 i got very sick, basically HG i was even hospitalized but by 14-16 week i was better and didn't end up taking meds. eating frequently helps so much. protein. i would press that sea band sickness area a lot, avoid strong smells, and there was a homeopathic for motion sickness which can help many, forget the name but a health food store should be savy it is safe during rpegnancy and has been proven to help many with morning sickness. Ginger tea...in the end with dd1 i still threw up, i found stress and even slight blood sugar dips made it so so much worse though! eat whatever nuts, beans, hummus, meat, cheese whatever you can stomach at least every 2 hours, with my 15 mo nursling i eat even more frequently. drink lots of water with lemon... sometomes nothing really works, watch a comedy movie!

My first pregnancy, my prenatal definitely made me sick.  (But then, anything and everything made me sick.)  I ended up switching to Flintstone vitamins for the first few months, until the m/s finally went away.

I'm still taking B6, and I haven't been sick yesterday or today... And I had a BH contraction this morning.  My lower abdomen got really tight, and I could feel the lump where my uterus is.  I should be glad I'm not sick, but now I'm just worried.

I'm praying everything's okay.  praying.gif  Early pregnancy makes me so nervous.  It's much better when I can feel the baby move and know by that that everything's okay.  This is sort of reminding me of my first pregnancy, which resulted in a m/c.  I was soooo sick, then all the sudden I was fine.  I can't remember when I stopped feeling sick with that one, but it took til 10 weeks to miscarry, and development stopped at 5-ish weeks. Think happy thoughts for me!

I'm just feeling lucky when I make it through a day - no matter how sick I get, it's one day closer to the m/s ending!  I've been able to get through the past couple days by eating about every hour or two.  Today, I just can't stomach the thought of eating.  And on top of it all, I now have diarrhea.  I'm thinking that maybe it's all the yogurt I'm eating.   DH is away for the day, I'm home with DS and I'm supposed to work tonight.  I just don't see how I'm going to make it through this.

diana - I looked up the ingredients in your meds and am thinking that I wouldn't be able to take it anyway since I am still nursing my DS. :-(

I guess I'm not getting out of this as easy as with my first. I'm officially joining the club as I puked 3 times this morning. Well, dry heaved is more like it, but bleh! Last time around I felt nauseous, would eat some crackers, then I'd be fine. Didn't puke once. Considering I'm only 5 weeks along and already puking, I guess my body is making up for lost time.

Any tips on dealing with a toddler while you're puking? This morning she freaked out crying.

I had hyperemesis with my last two. when I had it the first time I had a hospital stay, going home with a line in my heart to do IVs at home. fun stuff. last baby I had it but started meds much sooner so I never had the need for the hospital but spent most the time on the couch the first trimester and into the 2nd. This pg I'm just 6 weeks and have already had to start on zofran! I took it early enough today that I could get out of bed, but the nausea starts in the morning and gets stronger all day long til the unisom finally helps me go to sleep. again, fun fun. I'm grateful, though. The nausea reminds me that everything is going ok for now. After two tragic experiences, first with an early miscarriage and last with our beautiful son who was stillborn, I am grateful for the nausea that reminds me that I have a healthy growing baby in there. :)

Had a hard time yesterday and today.  Last night mashed potatoes helped me feel better.. today they made things much worse.  *sigh*  One day at a time I guess.

It hasn't really kicked in for me, but I do have indigestion.  I can totally feel for you ladies, though.  The first time I was sick right away and couldn't even eat days 7-14 or so dpo, so it happened really early.  I barfed non-stop until 5 months when I my lovely OB finally gave me a prescription for Zofran.  I'd lost 20 lbs by then, and I was living on Gatorade, cheese, crackers, and apples.  Zofran stopped the puking, but I still would gag.  I had a really high stress job then, and I think that had a lot to do with it.  Crossing my fingers!
