My birth story of my first daughter is posted in my blog in two parts:

Part One - her birth: http://mamatots.blogspot.com/2011/05/arrival-of-norah-annabel-smith-part-one.html

Part Two - Post-Partum Hemorrhage and aftermath: http://mamatots.blogspot.com/2011/05/norah-annabel-smiths-birth-part-two.html

Both parts are pretty LONG but hopefully you enjoy reading! We are all home safely and happily and our girl is 2 weeks old today :)

Congratulations on the birth of your beautiful daughter- she is just precious and it sounds like you had an awesome care team to take care of you.  I am sorry that you had (and your dh) had to go through such trauma right after such a joyous time, but glad that everything turned out ok.

I, too, suffered a PPH and retained placenta after the natural vaginal birth of my daughter. Unlike you, I was at home and had to transport to hospital via ambulance. It was intensly scary for my DH, and I am so grateful for modern medicine that allows you and I to be alive with our babies today. Even with the transfusion it took a couple months for me to be back to 100% health. I hope you are taking it easy and enjoying your new baby. Welcome to the small and selective club of women who found the "easy" part of labor (placenta) to actually be the most challenging part of all. Congratulations again on your beautiful baby and amazing natural birth.

This is awesome. I know this is terribly late - but Congrats. Samar is my doctor now.. and I am planning on using the CNMs at UM. This reassures me that it's a great decision. Thank you so much for sharing.

Thank you, Thebyr.  I'm glad you're at UM too - they were absolutely wonderful and the reason I'm here to type this.  My daughter's birth, as scary as it ended up being, was beautiful and perfect too, and I am so grateful that we were in such good hands.  I hope your birth experience here is wonderful too! Keep me posted and best wishes for a healthy pregnancy and baby!

smile.gif I sent your posts to my hubby and he agreed that they eased some apprehension he was having too. We want the ability to have a natural birth in a hospital and we think UM will be the perfect place now.

I will most certainly keep you posted. Thanks!
