Filling out quiz/test/assignment wrong

My 6 yo DS does not have actual quizes/tests/assignments yet. But he has done several readyness exercises to see if he is ready for 1st grade next year. Simple stuff, like "snow" starts with the same sound as "cat", "stinky" or "sneakers"? I don't remember the results exactly, but all were very good - I think 17 out of 18, 24 out of 24, 15 out of 18....

But the last test he checked off every result, instead of just the answers. And on almost all the others, after checking off the correct answer he did odd things - like putting 2 check marks between each line, or checking off the right answer with an x and checking all the wrong answers with a circle... The teacher saw this and gave him the correct marks, but asked why he did this. I don't know. DS says he does not know, or that he felt like it. Frankly, I remember doing this as a kid as well, but I don't remember why I did it either. Anyone else's kids do/did this? If so, why???? What is the point?

If he has been doing a lot of testing he may be trying to make it interesting for himself. Once my ds did 3/4 of his spelling test in mirror writing, including the sentence portioneyesroll.gif.

He was probably bored after the test & was doing his version of doodling.  I wouldn't give it a 2nd thought

That's what I would assume, too.  Both kids drive me crazy with their willingness to doodle *anywhere* on their school papers: it just looks so messy.  I'm sure he's not the only kid who did this!

That's what I was going to say.

My 9 year old rarely brings home a paper that doesn't have some kind of drawing on it.  He's very smart and finishes well ahead of his class so he draws to keep himself busy.  Better than disrupting the rest of the class, imo!
