Moments that melt your heart

My ds turned 4 yesterday.  We live in a remote area, and have for 3 years.  He has never been to or had a birthday party.  We celebrate his b-day, but just me and him and daddy because we don't live anywhere close to family/friends. We have never put candles on b-day cakes.  Well last night when I took him his piece of b-day cake (sans candles of course), he started blowing on it.  Like he knew you are supposed to blow on a birthday cake, but didn't know why...OMG my heart...I just love him so much.  So I fished around for some candles we had from a few years ago when dh's sister was here and said we needed candles for dh's b-day cake...haha but we forgot to use them that time anyways.  So I put 4 candles on his cake and he got to blow them out.  And he wanted some cake this morning with candles on it again, although he was very clear that he would eat his oatmeal first before the cake.  Just wanted to share.

Anyone else's heart been melted lately?

Oh that's really cute! My heart was melted this morning. My 6 yo made me a card (no reason...he gave me a card on Mother's Day so this was just a bonus!). He drew a picture of our house on the front with a sunshine above it and inside wrote (in his kindergarten spelling) "Thanc yoo for yoo mommy. how muwtch do you love me?" And he stood there with a his big gap toothed smile (he's missing his front teeth).

My dd7 was in her last ballet class of the year yesterday and the last song was a "thank-you" dance. She asked if she could do her own and so, while every other little girl stood in the line and did the same dance, she twirled away, dancing across the gym and around and back again in her own little world. It was so beautiful to watch I still get tears in my eyes. It reminds me of the Faith Hill song "I hope you dance". I hope she always feels so free to be herself and to do what her heart/God tells her no matter what others are doing.

Oh I love little heart-melting moments... I remember talking to my husband while I was still pregnant with our son about when he gets old enough to walk around and hold hands and everything. Last week when we were walking to our mail box someone else was getting their carpet cleaned or something, and there were these pipes and tubes and stuff laying across the walkway. He stops and looks up at me, so much trust in his sweet little eyes, and reaches up for my hand and we walk confidently over the tubes. Just squeezes my heart. He is also extremely trusting that i will always catch him, like when he is walking down stairs he does not pay attention when I am nearby, just plops down them care-free! When i am not nearby he goes down very slowly, usually backing down one step at a time.
