This is the first time I've ever created a thread in any message board so I'm hoping this will work and is appropriate!

For those of you who have been pregnant before, do you remember how many days post ovulation and/or how many days post implantation it was before you got a BFP?

I'm asking because I am TTC #2 (12 DPO and possibly 5 days since I felt what I think was implantation)  and have had some likely pregnancy symptoms but have also gotten 4 negative HPTs.  I know it's been too early to tell on most of those days but this mornings BFN really bummed me out.

Also, I *think* that I didn't get a BFP with #1 until I was either 5 days past my period (maybe even more, irregular cycles and not charting).  At the same time, those First Response pregnancy tests say that 100% of their sample had positives 4 days before a period-- I know that is marketing but it's also making me wonder.

So, anyone want to share their experiences?

My answer is a bit skewed b/c I actually purposely waited until 18 DPO to test so that I had a confirmation through charting and an HPT.  With my subsequent pregnancies it took me until 20+DPO to finally admit that I must be pregnant and test.  LOL.  So this doesn't mean I wouldn't have gotten a BFP earlier had I tried.  I will say, though, that with both my early m/c's I tested more like 12 DPO and got extremely faint positives with an early pregnancy test (CVS brand).

Are you positive of your ovulation day?  I know that a lot depends on when the embryo actually implants, which could be as late as 10 DPO.  Do a lot of people feel implantation?  I know that I didn't, but I also don't feel ovulation.  But, sometimes it just takes longer for enough hCG to build up.  Plus, the concentration has to build up high enough to be detectable in your urine, which doesn't happen until even later for some women.   I know the wait is SO hard when you're ttc, but until you're at least 3 days past your longest LP, I wouldn't worry about BFN's... wait until 18 DPO if you can!  :)

I hoped to be able to vote more than once because I've had different experiences. With my ds and dd, I got a BFP at 11dpo. With my first miscarriage, I got a BFP at 15 dpo and my second miscarriage I got a BFP at 18 dpo.

Thanks for the advice Jaimee.  I'm definitely not sure about my O date, it could easily be 1-2 days later and I'm not going to test for a few more days and i'm not going to be crushed if it doesn't happen this cycle.

It just got me wondering... if hCg doubles every 24 hours on average, it seems like it could take awhile to reach 25 or 50.  And, my experience with #1 was negatives for a long time.

Thanks to everyone who's answered so far.  Callieollie and others, I'm going to see if I can edit the poll to allow more than one answer.  I meant to do that but I must have messed it up....

Hmmmm. Sorry I can't figure out how to change the poll.  Anyone know how?

I don't think you can edit polls.  I've made that mistake before.  :)

I messed this poll up a bit but I found a related one on Babymed.com that I thought I would add here so that people can find it in the future.  I don't know their sample size or anything about the site but it's encouraging info for those of us TTC or in the 2ww.

When in relation to your missed period did your pregnancy test first become positive?
3-4 days before 28 %
1-2 days before 17 %
Same time 11 %
1-2 days after 22 %
3-4 days after 6 %
About a week after 17 %
More than a week after 0 %
