I love Portsmouth. Â We've lived in the area for 15 years. Â We're in Newmarket, about 25 minutes away. Â I've worked at Strawbery Banke Museum - lovely place. Â Across from that is Prescott Park with really beautiful gardens. - they also do summer outdoor theatre there, depending on when you visit. Â They just had children's day a couple weeks ago, and Market Square day is in early June. Â Arts scene is great with Seacoast Repertory, The Music Hall, and a new place associated with The Music Hall called The Loft. Â A new artisan bakery is going in downtown. Â
Â
Foodwise, I would recommend a trip to Beach Pea Bakery for lunch, a short trip over the border in Kittery. Â The Friendly Toast (downtown Portmouth) and The Golden Egg (just south of town) are fun breakfast spots. Â I shop at the Portsmouth Health Food store downtown - great little shop with knowledgeable staff. Â There is a farmers market every Saturday just out of town, and surrounding towns have them as well on different days. Â
Â
We're actually moving this summer as soon as our house sells, and I will definitely miss Portsmouth! Â Enjoy your visit.
