Help...4yr old is stinky!

Hi there...

I am new to the website and hope I am posting this in the right spot! I need answers!

My 4 year daughter started to have a little bit of vaginal odor about three weeks ago. I played it off to her "trying" to wipe herself after using the potty. She has a bath every night or at least every other. And we use a wet wipe to also wipe after potting, so it is not a clean problem. 2 weeks ago I took her to the doctor and told her about the smell, there is no itching, no burning...just a smell!! She checked her and said yeast infection, gave her meds said take for 2 weeks, it should clear up. The two weeks are up on Thursday and she still smells!! So much so that my mother said she could smell her Thur her jeans!

I want to take her back to the Dr. but don't want to be overreacting! I know this is not normal! Any thoughts on what else is the cause before I go back to the Dr?

Thanks in advance!

As crazy as it sounds, I would have the dr. check and make sure she didn't shove anything IN her vagina. I have had two nose incidents in the last few months (my DS2 and my Niece today) where they've stuck something up their nose and we don't know until they start to smell to high heaven. Good Luck mama!

Hmmm is there any kind of discharge going along with it or just the smell? I'm wondering if it's internal (like hormones) or external (like her bath soap)

No discharge that I can tell. Its baffling! I am wondering about the soap...its Johnson's bath soap...she has eczema so that is the only soap we have used since birth.

Maybe she still has a yeast infection... Sometimes they can be more difficult to cure.

Also, bacterial vaginosis is often misdiagnosed as a yeast infection. I fought with my doctor about this for months when my own "yeast infection" wouldn't clear up and I finally got her to prescribe the right antibiotics (it requires a very particular type of antibiotic). Sorry for the TMI, but can you describe the odor?

For a natural cure, grapefruit seed extract works REALLY well to cure both yeast and bacterial infections. This can bought at healthfood stores (remember, it's grapeFRUIT seed, not grapeseed). You can take the drops internally and also put it in your laundry to kill any existing yeast and bacteria. You can also dilute it and use it topically.

I'd also see about doing some soap free bath's and see if that helps at all

Coconut oil helps with eczema and yeast.  Get some extra virgin CO and have her eat some and put it where needed and see if it helps.
