howdy! 1 kid autistic/disabled and 1 kid gifted

I've been lurking for a few days to decide whether to put yet another username in my life. I very much like the topics and level of discussion here, so here I am all joined up :)

I have a 21 yr old daughter who has Sotos Syndrome (moderate mental and physical disabilies) and autism, and I have a 16 yr old gifted son. We were a military family until a couple of years ago and now we're a single parent family. There are pros and cons to everything - both my kids are fabulous and I have enjoyed both lifestyles. I changed from SAHM to full time work and full time school when we became a single parent family - really really miss the homelife, but it has forced my kids to be a bit more self sufficient which it was probably time for. Now that I'm working, I do get a complete thrill at managing our family budget and being able to save for big purchases. I was never allowed anywhere near the money during the marriage. (The divorce was because I finally found out where all our money was going!)

I surfed onto the decluttering forum here while looking for inspiration to let go of possessions from my former life.

I'm very happy to find such a positive and thoughtful online community :)

I have twins with mild-moderate Autism and learning disabilities.  I'm also a full-time step-mom to my husband's son, who is gifted.  It's an interesting world, meeting those two sets of needs at the same time, isn't it?
