We are ready to start the Jay Gordon nightweaning plan, which requires that we lay DS down awake. He has only ever fallen asleep nursing or in the car.

Any tips? If we are home (vs. in the car), he falls asleep nursing in the baby carrier, and then I lay him down in our sidecarred crib. Would it be better to nurse him somewhere different (chair? maybe bed or not?) and then lay down with him awake and comfort him until he falls asleep?

We tried Jay Gordon's plan a couple of weeks ago, but I somehow glossed over the advice on laying DS down awake (to teach him to fall asleep on hos own), and when he woke in the night he had so much trouble settling back down and falling asleep...We had to take a break form nightweaning when DS and I both got sick, but I'd like to try it again in a few days.
