Vesicostomy Drainage

Thread Starter

My Son who is 2 1/2  has had 2 vesicostomy procedure, the first one closed up so they did a revision of the first one. Anyways with both of them I noticed that when the top of the diaper gets full enough it starts leaking through his clothes. I got through diapers like it is water, and I am washing clothes it seems like every other day. Is there something or away to prevent the urine from leaking all over the place? I am getting frustrated.

My daughter has a vesicostomy (she got it when she turned 1); I am happy to share some ideas that we have done to help with diapering.  You can email me at:  kstephens1234@yahoo.com   if you are interested.  We found a very creative way to diaper her through potty training (before she could go #2 on her own), and now that she has that part down, we have a different way to diaper so that it's more discrete.

I completely understand how frustrated you are.  There is zero information online about this kind of thing, and it seems impossible to keep them dry with just normal diapers because the diaper starts slipping down and they get pee all over their clothes.  Our kids deserve better than that!  My daughter is now 4, and nobody can tell that she even has a vesicostomy unless they actively see somebody changing her....you can't see anything through her clothes, etc.  And we have some solutions for overnight, too.

Best of luck to you - hope to hear back from you and we can share ideas!
