Gold's Gym Immunizations

Thread Starter

I just joined Gold's Gym and I'm taking my daughter to the child care there so I had to sign their contract and fill out some information on her.  There was a space for "immunizations current" which I left blank because we don't vax.  One of the employees glanced over the sheet and didn't say anything when I dropped her off.  I don't want to find out after I'm stuck in the contract that she has to be vaxed.  I have no experience with school or daycares (DD is only 9 months).  How should I deal with this issue?

Thanks you all.

PS-  Our child's ped supports our decision, if that makes a difference : /

I was a member of Gold's before I had my son, but my best friend was my gym buddy and she occassionally left her kids in the child care there.  I don't remember her having to fill out any sort of information for them?  They were pretty laid back.  It's a tough call, because if you don't say anything there's a good chance they may not even raise the issue but if you point it out to them they might.  But then again you don't want to be locked into the contract and unable to leave your daughter.

If it were me I'd probably just cross my fingers that it's never mentioned.  Legally, they are a private entity and they don't have to take your daughter if she is not vaxed.  But then again, so is my son's daycare and I just had to write a letter for them to keep on file.  It's a CYA thing.

Not that it makes a difference but what are the state laws where you live regarding vaxes?  Are you in a philosophical exemption state?  If you got pushback you might be able to say, "Well the school system just has people fill out X form, if I do the same can I bring her?"

Sorry that's sort of rambling... hope it's somewhat helpful.

If the daycare at the gym is licensed through your state, then you should be able to check the state licensing standards to see what is allowed. Most states allow a religious or philosophical exemption (all except W VA and one other that I can't remember). In my state we just sign a form and get it notarized and then the baby is exempt from all vaccine regulations. If you want help searching, let me know what state you are in and where your gym is. This is a big chunk of my job, so I consider myself an expert when it comes to daycare standards!

HTH!
