Birth Certificate for UC in BC, Without Proof of Pregnancy?

I'm planning my UP/UC here in Vancouver, and thanks to a lovely response on the birth certificate topic in February, I know all I have to do to get the certificate after my little one is born is call up Vital Statistics and ask for the packet.

Has anyone gotten the birth certificate without Proof of Pregnancy documents? Any guesses on how difficult this may be?

If you have the other info and affidavits you should be fine.  I won't have any of proof of pregnancy documents for mine either, and I know a lot of women manage without them.

Oh, thanks! And can you talk to me about the affidavits? Are these statements from people who witness the birth? How does one get them?

The blank forms for them will be in your packet, basically someone who is not related to you or your partner has to say that they either witnessed the birth, or that they know you were pregnant and saw you before and after the birth.  The form will have a space for their name and address and all that.  Then they have to sign it in front of a notary, or at the vital statistics office downtown.  I think its a little cheaper to get it done at the vital stats office but not by a huge amount ($30 vs $40-50)
