Waxing

So, as my tummy grows bigger I thought about the upkeep of down below. It's getting harder to keep clean and I'm not big on having a "bush" growing out of control...lol  So my girlfriend suggested waxing. I've never done this before and gave it some thought and came to the conclusion that it would be nice to not have to shave every day or every other. So I booked my first appointment at a local spa. Well I was extremely nervous in having someone getting such a close look down there, but decided the end result was worth it. So she explained everything, and I thought ok, I've given birth I can handle 15 minutes of waxing.  So as she began to put the hot wax on me and I began to feel the skin pull I knew this was not going to be easy. Than that first pull....OMG it hurt, but I was determined. I can tell you that it didn't get any easier as she continued, at one point I even began to laugh because crying was out of the question. When she was finished I was red, swollen and clean. She told me that when your pregnant the skin is much more sensitive especially in that area.  Well that was almost 6 weeks ago, It lasted a long time which has been wonderful, and I can say it is not as coarse or thick as before, another plus. Now its time to do it again. I just have to work up the courage again...lol

You are one brave woman!  There is no way I would let hot wax anywhere near that area right now.  I've become accustomed to shaving it blindly and even that is a stretch.

I usually wax my own noonie with hot wax but since I can not see down there it is a bit too risky. I desperately need a waxing, too. I have gone to "wax in the city" and have gotten a brazilian but it was painful when they got to the middle part. So now I go to a spa that leaves my underwear on and pulls two waxing strips without wax through my underwear so she can move it as necessary but you do not feel so exposed. I was so worried about having a big bush during birth the first time I got pg but to be honest, during the birth I did not care at all!

Since we talk about waxing down there: When I had the brazilian done I really enjoyed the clean feeling but the sex was not as good. I guess the hair adds friction which adds to the pleasure....?

Any experiences with this "problem", ladies?

Well I'm not a waxer or a shaver in the first place but things are more uncomfy down there so DH grabs some shears and trims away. Painless, a bonding experience (haha) and definitely a relief afterward thumb.gif

I'm totally a waxer. Have been for a few years. once you start waxing you cant go back to shaving! I find it most painful right above the pubic bone. I just have her do the bikini area, not a full baldy. It is definitely more painful when prego but not doing it is not an option!

I waxed religiously during my entire last pregnancy.  It hurt so bad though, I nearly canceled my last appointment (at 38w) because I was so afraid.  Heck right now, even just pressing on myself there kind of hurts, the increased blood flow does increase the pain.  Anyway, I'm going to go one time this time, just have her do the bikini and trim everything up (although no Brazillian this go round).  I can't see a darn thing and it will be nice to get it done, despite the pain.  As for feeling exposed, I have been going to the same lady for years and years, we ditched using the coverup ages ago, she's going to see it all anyway.

You could try hair removal creams like crotex which permanently get rid of unwanted hair. They are easier.

I just use a mirror and a cream shaving creme (Alba organics). Keeps it smooth and it's virtually free compared to waxing. I sit in empty bath to do this.

I have gone twice for waxing during this pregnancy.  I don't think I can go back again.  The second time I felt bruised down below for about a week after, it was so uncomfortable.  I have gone back to shaving very carefully....

I also found that I got a lot of ingrown hairs post waxing....also not so comfortable...anyone else have that problem with waxing?

I use magic razorless cream shave. No more than once every trimester when pregnant, though. I know its full of chemicals, but it is the only.method I can stand and with 100+ degree temps here I would lose my mind growing hair out.

I Usually Just trim. When I would shave, it would be nice and smooth for about a day or 2 then get all nasty ugly, bumpy ingrown hairs, and if I'd try to shave again it BLEEDS and gets really bad. Waxing does not sound appealing. And yes Gismobabe, I agree, Sex is better when it's not bare skin. The friction does help.

I cant see reach or even feel to trim now though and am hating my Bush! Might have to 'spread em' for DH and have him help me out with a trim. I usually just use scissors, but wish I had a Wahl-Like trimmer. Don't they make one especially for down there?

I tried waxing last month and it was not fun.  I self wax and purchased a different brand than I normally use (big mistake)

I really need to find a solution otherwise I might just bite the bullet and shave.

I really found using a loofah after waxing really helped keep the ingrown hairs away.

Since waxing I can say the hair hasn't grown back the same as when I shaved (its much lighter). Although I haven't brought myself to wax since about the 6-7 month of pregnancy, since than I have used an electric shaver or trimmer to keep it neat and it has been good. I just hate the idea of growing a bush.....lol  Besides pretty soon Baby will be coming and I know when she does I won't care what it looks like down there in the mean time I don't like the idea of my baby daddy, midwives and my other kids seeing a messy bush down there when my baby arrives. It may be vain of me but that's ok I like it clean.blush.gif

DDCC! If you sit in a warm bath and soak for about 15 minutes, it basically eliminates ingrown hairs from waxing or shaving.
