Who wants to raise their hemoglobin/improve their diet with me? - Page 8

I totally use like 5-6 packets of sugar in my coffee when I'm out so I hear you!!  That's AWESOME.  Good for you!!

I updated my food log for the day - I'm at like 90 g of protein w/o shakes!  Woo hoo!  And I did take all my supplements, too.

Can you take the chlorophyll in juice or something to cut the taste?

I plan to. I have to see if it tastes better in oj or cranberry. Maybe it would be ok in tea? Hummmm. Thanks for the congrats. I've been working really hard on my sugar consumption. I do feel regular sugar is better for my body as I'm allergic to artifical sweeteners, but I also feel it's good to limit it so I can enjoy it more in things like cookies or tea rather than sooo much at once in my coffee. :)

Congrats Carrie! That's a ton of protein!

Bobbin, I agree with you that real sugar is better than artificial sweeteners.

Hah, I think my baby is going to be half nacho and half cornflakes... you're not alone with the junk food Carrie. Especially in the first tri when I just did not want real food at all.

I've been away this weekend but didn't eat that badly after all. Today's dinner was cornflakes and milk though orngtongue.gif Will start recording again tomorrow.

Last week and this past weekend didn't go so well. Lack of sleep due to a teething son and just feeling too exhausted to care has meant way too much easy food rather than good food.

I did finally buy a pitcher for measuring out my daily minimum amount of water, as I know I haven't been drinking enough water. Seriously between all the food, drinks, protein, iron etc etc I have days where I feel like I'll just burst. But its only 8 more weeks and will be so worth it to finish this pregnancy healthy and have my home birth this time.

Today so far

B Scrambled eggs & 1 slice of potato bread & cup of coffee

S Slice of leftover apple pie

Today planned

S Protein bar & glass of milk

L Some kind of salad, probably with Tuna

S Protein Milkshake

D Homemade Chicken Satay with egg noodles

S Probably end up being another slice of apple pie

Also during the day 3 shots of floradix (I've stopped taking it in a whole glass of juice), 1000mg Vit C, DHA, Multi-Vits, B6 & a pot of RRL Tea

I have been really sucky with my eating and iron supplements lately.  Probably not thinking about it as much because I don't feel so anemic lately.  I also have been occupied with feeling crappy from my UTI and cold.  All that plus traveling...and I am embarrassed by how bad I've been doing.  Today is the day to do better!  I am going to go drink my floradix right now.  I also will keep track ogff my food again until I'm being more mindful about my eating.  Today so far:

B - Carnation breakfast drink with soy milk

S - OJ with emergen-c and floradix

L - Eggs in tortilla with some cheese

S - Zone protein bar and floradix w/OJ

Well, with yesterday being  holiday I did alright (not great though!)

S - chips, chips, chips.  Diet iced tea.

L/D - Boca burger, potato salad, and baked beans.

Dessert - watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew, 2 homemade vegan cupcakes, 1 slice of chocolate pudding pie

ADS - another cupcake; granola bar before bed

I did manage a ton of water yesterday, and my cranactin, and my Floradix so I consider it a win.

I also had a few sips of DH's beer and it was like a little slice of heaven for me.  OMG, I so miss beer!!

Today

B - bagel w/vegan cream cheese

S - apple, some BBQ pringles; banana

L - small veggie baloney and tofutti cheese sandwich (14-18 g)

S - hummus and pretzels/carrots; caramel light soy frappucino (heaven); a handful of skittles

S - small plate of leftover potato salad

D - creole red beans with quinoa (protein heavy, but cant measure)

ADS - some dark chocolate

AADS - protein shake (~50 g)

Has anyone else heard that carbonation is bad for your placenta? We've been drinking a lot of mineral water lately due to the heat and I was sort of wondering. Is there anything to back that up? Because I like mineral water and I think it's probably good when you're sweating a lot. Like now. I think I sweat way more pregnant than not!

ETA: Carrie, stop eating Pringles!!! lol.gif It always makes me want some too! I have a major salty tooth.

Yes!!!  That's why my mw recommended nixing the carbonated beverages for me.  Last time I had a pretty calcified placenta (on the maternal side, I think?) and she said that carbonated beverages can have an effect on calcium absorption or something.  Not only that but it's not great for healthy blood in general.  So I just completely took everything carbonated out of my diet (save the occasional sip of beer, lol) and I had one can of coke zero on the 4th of July b/c I'm bad.

Last pregnancy though I drank a LOT of soda.  At least 2 cans a day.

Ok -- thanks for the tough love.  I'm not buying anymore Pringles.  Scouts honor!!

Today -

B - Cheerios and a banana with soymilk; coffee (BIG cup)

S - small veggie baloney and cheese sandwich

L - pasta with earth balance and nooch, boca chicken patty on top; some sugar free cherry limeade

S - tablespoon of peanut butter, some pretzels

D - sushi - two rolls - one mango carrot and one avocado.  Also a piece of veggie tempura.

MNS - peanut butter and milk.

Darn! I was hoping it was just an old wives' tale :P Oh well, plain water for me from now on! I haven't been drinking a ton of mineral water but probably too much anyway.

Oh and I'm with you on the sips of beer :D I even have half a glass of wine from time to time! Where are the bad mother police??

It could just be a bunch of bull.  My mw is incredibly excited to see my placenta, she says, and to see if it made a difference this time around.  Who knows?  I think the bad mother police know to stay away from MDC!  Hahaha!!
