How to clean once (young) DS is retractable?

My super crunchy ped is awesome, she actually high fived me when she saw our DS is intact. She even has her own delayed vax schedule and she's young, 29, so she's up to date on all the latest medical info. At our last appointment she was checking out a yeast rash on my son's bum and of course DS (who is nearly 3) took the opportunity to fiddle around with his penis while the diaper was off. Ped casually mentioned to me that he is fully retractable now and that since he is I should be retracting him at bath time to clean him. I should mention she never touched him, just saw how much movement is in his foreskin while he played with it.

Now I know I should never forcibly retract DS, but what if he is retractable? I really trust my pediatrician, but it still seems weird after never ever retracting to start doing so. And at nearly 3 he's not old enough to do it properly himself. Advice?

Teach him to retract, rinse it off and replace it.  Just like your teaching him to wash his toes, hair and everything else in between.

If he cant do it himself then it dosnt need to be done. Until puberty hits it really isnt necessary to clean under there even if he is retractable though it is a good habit to get him into. You can talk to him about pulling the skin back and rinsing in the water, do not use soap under the foreskin it can cause yeast and irritation.

It feels weird because it is weird to start messing with things like that especially when there is no need. A good swish in the bath or just letting him play in the bath is enough to clean it until he gets the hang of retract, rinse, replace.
