I can't seem to find a good fit. I use prefolds and covers and need ideas on a better fold please.

I took a break for about a month b/c my son outgrew the small prefolds so we just went o the next size with medium wraps, both from Bummis. I don't like the folds I'm using and the way they cover. I need help. One of the things I like about sposies is the way they cover and conform around the legs and allow my baby to move around and not look to bulky.

I was doing the leaky poop or newspaper fold b/c I liked the way it gave a lot of coverage. Now my baby is sitting up and needs more coverage above his butt, the other day his butt wasn't covered well enough and he ended up pooping on his monkey that he was leaning against. lol

Does the normal very straightforward tri fold work for babies that are starting to become more mobile?

I really like the bikini twist fold. I use wool and flats or prefolds and find the twist fold to provide good poop containment, plenty of bum coverage and extra up front for pee(boys).

I very my folds based on how I'm feeling at the time. on my newborn I use either the angel-wing fold, or the jelly-roll fold. on my toddler I mostly bikini twist, but sometimes tri-fold (this tends to get the most poop on the cover), and I do a variant fold where the center is tri-folded and the ends are fanned out so I can snappi.

In my experience the trifold (aka newspaper fold) is the worst for coverage and I never recommend it for newborns (liquid/explosive poop) or the pasty poop stage.  I would agree with the recommendation for the twist.  If you'd like to see it done, you can watch it in the first of my youtube videos here: http://www.youtube.com/user/JaimeeGleisner?feature=mhsn

I like the bikini twist as well, very trim in the crotch area and great coverage! You can jelly roll the sides a bit to keep the poo in.
