Drastic change in behaviour before new sibling is born? Anyone?

DD1 is 3 years 3 months old. I'm currently 36 weeks 3 days pregnant with DD2.

DD1 has always been an easy, well-behaved child (not something I credit myself with, it's just her nature). However, to make a long story short, since she turned 3 (3 months ago) she's been acting like she's possessed by demons. The last few weeks in particular have been horrendous. I'm at my wit's end. There have been times in the last few days when I've actually wanted to physically hurt her (I haven't, but it's a scary feeling). greensad.gif I could write paragraphs detailing the ways in which she's driving me crazy, but you get the gist.

I've taken her to the doctor to make sure she's not in any physical discomfort that we may have missed, but she seems healthy.

I've been chalking it up as mostly an age-related thing, but now I'm beginning to wonder whether this may be primarily a reaction to the imminent birth of her baby sister. She seems genuinely happy & excited about becoming a big sister, so it's not a conscious thing. I'm thinking this may be evolved instinctive behaviour designed to ensure that she doesn't get pushed aside when the baby arrives.

Thoughts? Has anyone else had an experience like this? Any advice?

no advice, but for kids who are old enough to understand that a new baby is coming it seems to be pretty typical.

We went through the same thing. I think it's both. Three is a hard age, and having a new baby on the way is a big deal. Also, I was so tired the last few weeks, and that makes everything harder for everyone.
